(Is this technically fantasy or...?)I remember reading the Unfortunate Events books way back when I was a kid, desperate for something to read to tide me over until Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was released. I was wholly convinced that I would hate them because they weren't Harry Potter and o...

Lemony Snicket's The Bad Beginning is a very funny book although brief. The writing is very funny and also unique and that's what makes this book so special. I have seen the movie that was inspired in these books and so I recognized the plot of the book. Since I loved the movie, it was obvious that ...

I read this series when it first came out and loved it while almost everybody else was hung up on Harry Potter. For some reason, I could never get into J K Rowling's writing (there was something about her storytelling voice that put me off), but I was drawn in to this series almost immediately, and ...

Not a bad book. I enjoyed the definitions of words that got thrown in randomly along the way. I first read this book when I was around 10. I completely loved it. As a child, I adored the darkness about it, because it was different. Now, years later, I still love it. Maybe it´s just sentimental, but I still really enjoy this cute little book. Also, it looks nice in my bookcase *grin*.

Dark! Like Scooby Doo without the carthartic "if it weren't for those darn kids" and laughter filled endings. The Bad Beginning starts with tragedy for the three Baudelaire children, with their beloved parents dying in a fire. Throughout the remainder of the story, the orphans experience threats of ...

The rating is more for the other books than this one. I think this book, The Bad Beginning, was pretty good, but as I read the other books, I began to hate this series. I didn't even bother to read the last book. I suggest that if you read this book, DO NOT continue reading the rest of the books. Tr...
