One of my favorite King novels. Though I say that for almost every King novel.

I loved this story. The lead is wonderful. The storyline is great. The Dead Zone is so bittersweet and so wonderful, definitely one of my favorites by SK.

Random thoughts about this book: It’s very dated, but in a way that’s amusing and a little thought-provoking. The inner thoughts of a man on hold, at a time when the telephone “hold” function was new and before the now-ubiquitous hold music or recorded messages, when being put on hold was like a li...

The Dead Zone was a re-read for me, as many will be as I go through The Stephen King Challenge, and I forgot how powerful this book was. King was really in fine form during this period in the late 1970s. Johnny Smith is a young teacher that has started to date Sarah, another young teacher that wor...

“We all do what we can, and it has to be good enough, and if it isn't good enough, it has to do.” Who else but Christopher Walken could play Johnny Smith in the highly praised David Cronenberg film?Johnny Smith is a rookie teacher with $8 in his pocket, just enough money to take his best girl Sarah,...

There are some authors who are so far beyond reviews that it is almost an insult to review their work. Stephen King is one of those authors. Hope he doesn't mind the insult...Is there really much point in giving a brief introduction to The Dead Zone? It was a TV show, a movie, a bestselling book, an...

19/4 - I liked the story but couldn’t help comparing it slightly unfavourably to the tv series based on the book. In the show Johnny uses his psychic ability a lot more to help the town sheriff solve any cases that he comes across. In the book Johnny only helps the sheriff with one case, I like it b...

For Goodreads: 2.5 stars. I think I dislike this book a little more every time I read it. The Dead Zone is, for the most part, boring setups that lead to lackluster climaxes, if they can be called climaxes at all. Maybe "payoffs" would be a better word... But I think what I dislike the most about ...
