I read this book many years ago and when I first joined audible at the beginning of the year they had a deal on a few selected books and since I was still unsure I picked one where I had already read the book. I'm glad I didn't start with it. I still like the storyline but this narrator did not work...

This book had flashes of really interesting things, a lot of world building, but enough problems with writing and character that I just couldn't love it.Once upon a time, humans lived on a planet. This one? Perhaps, but it rather feels like a totally different world. Regardless, at some point, elves...

The first of the series by Andre Norton and Mercedes Lackey, an interesting read about a human world where elves and dragons have invaded, dragons almost invisibly and elves as human slave-masters. The first half of the book is a very good lead into the world created by Mercedes Lackey and Andre Norton. We get to ride along as Shana grows up in a dragon colony (why can’t I be that lucky!), as she...

A story of elves, dragons, mages and half elves/humans. I really enjoyed this. While a bit shallow, I never felt like rolling my eyes or putting the book down. I found it quite interesting to see dragons as tricksters and elves as the bad guys.

2.5 stars I listened to this novel while commuting in May 2011. I found few characters to relate to or care for. I rolled my eyes multiple times at the antics of the adolescents, chalking their behavior down to young adult fiction norms. However, when the adults behaved with even less maturity or...

This is a wonderful fantasy book I enjoyed so much from Ms. Norton. This robust and complex world of Elves, Dragons and slave humans is fascinating to me. Shana is the prophesied saviour. What she uncovers with the help of journals and dragons is amazing. I love the magic in this. I loved the d...
