I received this book as a gift, and, prior to reading it, I've never heard of Peter Handke or this work. This is to say that I did not know what to expect. While the cover is not particularly interesting, the strong title grabbed my attention. Also, the front cover blurb mentions Camus's The Strange...

Some moments of wonderfully dry interior monologue but Camus already did this and so did Simenon (thinking of The Outlaw) and kinda James M. Cain too. I haven't read Bernhard yet, but supposedly he did it too.
