There's not much to say about a book that has been reviewed, probably many here on BookLikes, that hasn't already been said. I'm mostly reading them and comparing the movies to the books and Suzanne Collins must have worked hard to get the movie really close to the book. It's been years since I've r...

I reread the Hunger Games earlier this year and then again in October. I have my problems with it (first person narration probably being the biggest), but it's one of the better YA books I've read. Very formulaic but here it works.

I think that you could read this book with your 6th graders. Especially, during whole group. It will keep both the girls and boys entertained. It would be a good way to introduce the students to different types of fiction. In this case Dystopian.
Books Make the World a Better Place
This is a book I would use in a sixth grade classroom. It would be a great book to keep the students engaged and even watch the movies afterward to note the differences. Further, the Hunger Games could be utilized for an analysis of characterization, symbolization, and plot structure. It could be...

The first time I read this book, it was newly published -- it hadn't even won the Newbery yet. I was an adolescent. I had never heard the word "dystopia." All I knew was that I had never read anything like it.The second time I read it, I had just graduated from college and was at a mind-numbing data...
