Once, there was a charming, intelligent scientist with a strong determination. He worked towards a serum which would turn people invisible. He succeeded. He's turned himself invisible. But the thing is, he can't become visible again- and he's gone quite mad.

I somehow managed to miss this one while I was reading all of Wells' other books as a kid. I guess I just thought an invisible man was sort of a low rent villain. I rather liked this book, more than The Time Machine. I thought Wells did a good job imagining what it might be like to be invisible, both the benefits, but more importantly the difficulties. The difficulties, in particular are likely to be a strain on one's conscience and soul, and so it was.

Of course, the experiment was not evil. Neither was the Manhattan Project. What men do....Very close to 4 stars, but not quite.

My first Wells book, and I must read more of his now. Much better than I had even guessed it would be.

I would probably give this book a 3.5 but since that isn't possible, I rounded up. I enjoyed this book and thought it to have many thought invoking ideas. The creativity and thought put into what it would be like to become invisible is great and it really made me think. I may have given this a highe...

This is a novel by H. G. Wells I've never gotten around to until now. Perhaps because invisible people are a bit on the boring side. I mean how many things can you do while invisible until you get bored and say "What's the thrill?". H. G. Wells saw invisibility as a comment on Victorian values. Of c...
