This book. This is my second time reading the story of John Grogan's life, from his childhood to well into adulthood, and I'm guessing it wont be the last. Its the type of book where I literally both laughed and cried, cliche as that sounds. One of my favourite books.
This was a great read. It's a funny, true, coming of age story about the life of John Grogan (the author of Marley & Me) growing up as a bit of a rebel with strict catholic parents. It's completely honest and I'd happily read other books written by him.
John Grogan's second memoir shows that he can write a moving and often hilarious memoir that doesn't involve a dog. Of course, you didn't have to be a dog person to love Marley & Me...but it didn't hurt. At the same time, you don't have to have grown up Catholic to appreciate The Longest Trip Home.....
