This might be sacrilege but The Lord of the Rings is not the best book in the world. Highly influential, yes. Important, yes. Groundbreaking, sure. But Pratchett was correct when he said that if you still think it is the best book in the world than you haven’t been reading enough.Yet, despite its fl...

I decided to read a one-book edition of the classic, just the way it was written. I will however split my discussion between three parts of it. I need to mention that I will not bother hiding any spoilers as I have trouble believing any modern person living in civilized enough parts of the world to ...

So apologies up front since I am going to have to break this review up in order to talk about all three books. I am glad that I managed to finish it this weekend. I just put my head down and got through it the past couple of days. Once I stopped comparing these books to the Peter Jackson films I was...

Tolkien is a major writer of fantasy. I remember watching his amazing trilogy Lord of the Rings long time ago, and I still remember how much I liked it. Now I finished reading his trilogy and I feel nostalgic! Probably I'm gonna watch the movies again tonight!I loved the books. Recommended :)

A History Nut's Romantic State of Mind
How is it that I have never reviewed this book? There is nothing I could say to do justice to this book. I love myself a great fantasy world and this book is PERFECT. It has got history, characterization, imagination, loyalty, love, betrayal, all the heavy stuff. Classic indeed.

I've listened to this magnificent adaptation so many times I've lost count. It is wonderful and faithful to the book. Ian Holm rocks Frodo from innocent lad to one near destroyed by his burden. Actually just about everyone is tremendously well done. Love it, love it, love it!

First time I've read it in 35 years. What more needs to be said about this book (it's a single book, not a trilogy)? It defined a new genre that's often imitated, but never paralleled. The Lord of the Rings scratches my high fantasy itch. There's really no need to read other high fantasy because mos...

Anyone who knows me knows I am OBSESSED with the Lord of the Rings. These stories literally changed my life and touched me in ways no other stories ever have. Friendship, bravery, inner strength—there are so many lessons to be found in these books and I will always hold the works of Tolkien close to...

I'm a huge fan of LOTR. Always have been, always will be. It's so bad that I have figurines of all the characters, cards, posters, an original autographed Italian copy of the book, all the paperbacks, hardbacks and I am now starting a collection of the "special edition" covers... or what I like to c...
