In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and Sauron, the Dark Lord, forged the One Ring, filling it with his own power so that he could rule all others. But the One Ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-earth, it remained lost to him. After many ages, it fell by chance into the hands of the hobbit Bilbo Baggins. From his fastness in the Dark Tower of Mordor, Sauron's power spread far and wide. He gathered all the Great Rings to him, but always he searched far and wide for the One Ring that would complete his dominion.
On Bilbo's eleventy-first birthday, he disappeared, bequeathing to his young cousin, Frodo, the Ruling Ring and a perilous quest: to journey across Middle-earth, deep into the shadow of the Dark Lord, and destroy the Ring by casting it into the Cracks of Doom.
The Lord of the Rings tells of the great quest undertaken by Frodo and the Fellowship of the Ring: Gandalf the Wizard; the hobbits Merry, Pippin, and Sam; Gimli the Dwarf; Legolas the Elf; Boromir of Gondor; and a tall, mysterious stranger called Strider.

But Pratchett was correct when he said that if you still think it is the best book in the world than you haven’t been reading enough.Yet, despite its fl...
I decided to read a one-book edition of the classic, just the way it was written. I will however split my discussion between three parts of it. I need to mention that I will not bother hiding any spoilers as I have trouble believing any modern person living in civilized enough parts of the world to ...
So apologies up front since I am going to have to break this review up in order to talk about all three books. I am glad that I managed to finish it this weekend. I just put my head down and got through it the past couple of days. Once I stopped comparing these books to the Peter Jackson films I was...
Tolkien is a major writer of fantasy. I remember watching his amazing trilogy Lord of the Rings long time ago, and I still remember how much I liked it. Now I finished reading his trilogy and I feel nostalgic! Probably I'm gonna watch the movies again tonight!I loved the books. Recommended :)
