I sometimes wonder about why I review, and whether I enjoy reading less because of reading more critically. I think a closer reading of some things can enhance the experience, but fiction? Especially pop fiction? Maybe it takes some of the fun out of it. I think I might have enjoyed this book more a...

I think the historic aspect of this book was my favorite. I am obsessed with the Salem Witch Trials and the lore around it.This book had the perfect amount of everything: history, lore, romance, fantasy. What I was really impressed by, is how well Katherine Howe lets the story unfold, until by the...

I've come to the conclusion, that it's probably best to come to a book without any expectations. I had heard and read lots of very enthusiastic comments about this book before I started it, and therefore expected quite a lot. And, this book has a very interesting concept. Connie Goodwin is using her ...

I really enjoyed this book. I like stories that seem to be about real people, even if they have a little fantasy and mystery thrown in.Connie is a Harvar grad student who is supposed to be spending the summer at her late granna's house cleaning it up and getting it ready to sell. While there, she ...

I loved this story. It flipflops nicely between the time of the Salem witch trials and the early 1990s. I found all characters to be real and believable.

Really enjoyed this book. The stars of the tale were Deliverance & Mercy and the story was best during the flashbacks. Connie, the heroine for lack of a better word, was a bit clueless but I could deal with that. It was quite clear early on who the "bad guy" was, but the story still built well. ...

In the 90s, there was a series called Poltergeist the Legacy. It was about a group of people who investigated paranormal mysteries. It was kinda good. There was an episode that supposedly took place in Boston. The series supposedly took place in San Fran but considering that the money was always...
A Book Addict's Musings by Readinghearts
I really cannot decide whether to give this book 4 or 5 stars. I almost read it in one day, which is really unusual for me, but then, as much as I enjoyed it, it didn't leave me saying "WOW!" like The Weight of Silence or Neverwhere did. So, I guess that gives it a 4.5. The book takes place in b...

"What if, among those falsely accused during the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, there had been a few actual witches?"...That is the premise of this historical novel, and Ms Howe delivers a good story...with a few flaws. Aside from a couple of characters who border on Caricature (the New Age Mom, the Ev...
