In an ancient cairn in the wilds of Scotland, Oxford student Simon Rawnson vanishes, seemingly into thin air. Where has he gone? Unsettling signs, a mysterious Green Man, and a Celtic circle chalked on the sidewalk point his roommate, Lewis Gillies, to an impossible answer...and an incredible destiny on the other side of a doorway between worlds.

There, where Celtic champions, magic, and treachery are woven together in the beautiful and brutal land called Albion, Lewis finds Simon. And there, schooled as a warrior, he is thrust to the front of a titanic struggle between light and darkness, a hideous, onrushing darkness that would devour not merely a kingdom but two worlds.

As long as your in it for the plot your good. If you're in it for lyrical wordsmithing or believable character development your out of...

4.0 The Paradise War: Book One in The Song of Albion Trilogy (Song of Albion)
Does not have the characteristics I usually look for when search for potential fantasy favorites (I like a magically powerful hero, 1 POV), but Lawhead's writing style is wonderful.

5.0 The Paradise War: Book One in The Song of Albion Trilogy (Song of Albion) (Song of Albion (Westbow))
The best book of the Trilogy. Books series that get into any sort of politicking and serious business after a really fantastical start lose me. This book however is great :D
