4.25 starsThis was a great start to the series. The Shadow Reader is fast-paced and the action rarely lets up. McKenzie kicks ass and isn't one to wait around to be saved; she saves herself, most of the time. When she's abducted by the rebels she's been helping the king of the fae fight for the last...

I couldn't finish this. I've moved it around and looked at it from time to time and I have no interest in trying to finish it. There's nothing to lift it out of the horde of books that have the same basic plot.

I liked it as a whole. The idea was fun and original. I didn't like the repetitiveness of the heroine throughout the story tho. She harped on the same thing over and over again. I also felt like certain details were unnecessary, and other parts had conversations that just didn't make sense. It felt ...

In her debut novel Sandy Williams take the readers to the world of the Fae where only certain humans are able to see the Fae and even fewer are able to read the shadows: McKenzie is a College student who is desperately trying to finish her final exam and receive her degree, but as she is writing t...

In the beginning I loved the setting of this paranormal romance. But quickly enough it was all about one of the most awful love-triangles ever! And an incredibly selfish and immature heroine. I can't understand all the reviews praising her as a strong woman. Of course she fights but otherwise makes ...

First a big thanks to Rabid Reads for recommending The Shadow Reader. What I liked: This was a book I probably wouldn't have picked up on my own. Based on a recommendation from a fellow blogger, I gave it a try. It was well worth it. It was different from the some of the other Urban Fantasy I'v...

Wavering between a 3 and 4. I'm always leery with everything far because their effects on humans always teeter close to what I call mind-rape for me - whether you use force or invade a mind, same difference. The only reason I didn't walk away from the book is that Mackenzie knows its there - and s...

Abandoned at 59%.I had written a long explanation saying how I didn't understand why the book didn't click with me, since everything seems perfectly acceptable overall and admitting to a silly feeling of guilt like every time I give up on a book, but my Internet sucks lately and it didn't save. So t...

I'm giving this five stars just for being mind numbingly entertaining and keeping me up till the wee hours. I had forgotten how much I love a good urban fantasy because I was so burnt out on weres and vamps, but this take on the Fae was really refreshing. It has a love triangle, which normally annoy...

There are those who see beyond what normal human eyes can see. There are those who see creatures called the fae... and there are those who, like McKenzie, can see shadows they leave behind; shadows that she can read to track an escaping fae’s whereabouts. Her ability has made her an asset to the fae...
