I thought I read this book in my teens but the farther I got into it, the more certain I became that I hadn't. I would have remembered how well done Jack's descent into madness was. For me, that was the best part of the book. I did enjoy Danny's parts of the book, and Wendy's to a lesser extent, but...

It been a long times, that I have read the shining by Stephen King. The last times, I read this book was my junior years in high school. I don't remember if I was in love with it or not.I can see why the shining is well liken even today. I believe is because people fear of becoming Jack Torrance. Th...

Most of the time, I read the book before I see the movie. (If I see the movie at all, that is.) This time, I saw the 1980 movie version of The Shining before I read the 1977 novel by Stephen King. The biggest reason I read the book first is so that I can create version of the characters in my head b...

This is another great Stephen King novel, but of course he almost never disappoint you. (The only disappointing one was The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. I didn't think that girl would ever get out of the woods.) The Shining shows Stephen's exceptional imagination and storytelling. His characters have ...

I had read this book once before when I was much younger. I think I was probably around 12, so that would be about 27 years ago. I didn’t remember much about it beyond some of the more dramatic scenes and the fact that I had really enjoyed it. When I found out a sequel had been published, I started ...

I've gotta be honest -- I had no idea how to approach this review. I feel like anything I could possibly say about one of Stephen King's most well-known works, The Shining, has already been said by folks more eloquent than me. However, I still wanted to do a review because I plan to review every Kin...

I expected A LOT more, considering this is a book that cementing the horror genre.I wasn't at all scared, only in the end a little disguised more than creeped out. Plus there were some parts of the book which dragged out a little. I gave it two stars only because I really liked the family dynamic...

Can completely understand, and now totally agree why The Shining is considered as one of the horror classics of all time. Gripping, edge of your seat, page turning, creepy terror brilliance. Need I say more, except my favourite read this year :)
