I have not seen the show created from this material. I DVR’d it but the thing got full and it was deleted. That may have been for the best . . . The Strain begins when a passenger plane lands with its windows all darkened and none of its 199 passengers getting off the plane. Is it a terrorist atta...

I was browsing around on the overdrive of my library and saw this book. The title called to me first and then the cover!! I remember being excited to watch the show when it first aired so I was really surprised to see that it was based on a book. I have to say that the show pretty much stayed true t...

If you are looking for a traditional, supernatural, vampire story then look elsewhere. If, however, you are looking for an entertaining and somewhat scientifically based horror / apocalypse story then this might just be your cup of tea.The Strain is a fairly modern “vampire” story and, as seems to b...

After I finished and loved “The Passage” by Justin Cronin I was in the mood for another book that would get my heart pumping. At my local library I found “The Strain”. I had seen this book before and I knew it was part of a series. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by it. The story started out wel...

This review is from: The Strain (The Strain Trilogy Book 1) (Kindle Edition)My first exposure to The Strain was through the television show, which I found to be so awful that I couldn't make it past the second episode. I figured I would give the novel a chance, and it turned out to be better than I ...

This book is one of those that I could never really decide if I liked it or not. It started out incredibly slow, but I appreciated the detail that was put into it by the end of it. It built the anticipation up just enough that I was pretty involved in the characters as it went on. I was definitely ...

I picked up The Strain after hearing that it was being made into a television series, and, as Guillermo del Toro's name was attached, thought it might be something I could really sink my teeth into (I'm SO lame, I know).Well, it isn't terrible, but it wasn't really what I was expecting, either.Accor...

This was a fun read, and it was nice to see vampires brought back to what they were originally: dark, evil and scary creatures. These vampires don't drip with sexuality, and their lashing tongue appendage took a little getting used to, but it was definitely an interesting twist on what is now (in ...
