back to group
Well, one good thing has come out of this situation. I found several new active people to follow!
of course, we welcome all Leafmark users :)
@booklikes, do you want a sample Leafmarks export file to make sure booklikes will import? With email down, I can put up on Google docs or somewhere for you. I'm sure a Shelfarian somewhere could also get you a sample of their data backup to make sure their books would also import.

I have a feeling Shelfarians would want more robust group features before being sold on using booklikes even though booklikes not owned by the Amazon.com who shut down their book community. They liked Leafmarks better than goodreads because of the nested group threads and the non-Amazon ownership.

(Last I was able to get the import page here, booklikes took goodreads and lovelybooks files but no mention of Shelfari or Leafmarks tsv files.)

Could they email us on contact@booklikes.com, please? We will verify them manually.
Yay, I was finally able to join /o/
I tried to join on Sunday, got the email bug, wrote a mail after reading the reply from BL. They answered so fast I didn't even had time to finish my cup of tea :D

Thanks to everyone on this thread - if I had not found it, I would have think that the site was dead, and search for another community :)

Welcome! It looks like we have some common literary interests. I've followed you and look forward to your reviews.

Oooh, Books & tea, if you tell me you work at FNAC, I might pass out from jealousy. I love their BD selections, but am nervous enough flying that I haven't been to France to visit family - or FNAC - in quite a while.

Welcome and bienvenu! (Does that make me sound like Joel Grey in "Cabaret"?) I do hope you'll find a home here. Books and tea -- just the right combination! You'll fit right in.
Welcome, Books & tea! I followed you as well!

Welcome, Books & tea, I’m glad you were able to navigate through the current issues and find us! I just followed you. I read mostly fantasy and science fiction.

Well, no. I work in an (very small) independent bookstore, so FNAC is supposed to be my enemy :D But I sometimes buy a book from them. Because I like them too.

And thanks everyone :)
Can you please tell us why the site was down for well over 8 hours today? I understand it was the middle of the night in Poland, but just about every website has alerts that get sent out when there are "events" that cause downtime.

It's really, REALLY anxiety-inducing to have the site go down for such an extended period of time with no information. Not merely because of recent events; this is the second time the site has gone down for 8+ hours in the last 6 months and since BookLikes offers NO way for its users to back up their data, down time becomes increasingly nerve-wracking.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who would like more information, and some idea of whether or not BookLikes intends to do anything in the future to avoid over-night-in-Poland outages.

Any actual information would be appreciated. Thanks.

I second MbD's comments. PLEASE explain the extended down time and make sure it doesn't happen again; or at the very least, make sure there's no unexplained reoccurrence.

One of the things that we've come to appreciate particularly on BookLikes in the past was the BL team's emphasis on communication with the site's members. Communication currently isn't nearly on the level that it used to be, and it's clearly not working whenever there is a moment of crisis. Please understand that communication is key to keeping this community together -- *particularly* in light of recent events.
I'm kinda over BL at the moment, there's just too much that is winding me up, not least of all the extended downtime with no communication. I wondered if the plug had been pulled this time and as much I've been in love with BL I just couldn't summon the will to care this time. They don't care enough about me or my blog to keep me in the loop so...whatever.
On the other hand, is anyone else noticing how lightning fast the site's working today?

Not saying that notice wouldn't have been nice. (Sorry about the lost post, Troy!) And it would have been nice just to know they cared enough to let us know, but it looks like some huge changes happened during the down time.
Need help?
