Great answer! I admit to not having read it. If I were to look for a copy through the Project Gutenberg, would it be there? Under what title? Given when it was written, is it fairly "readable" for today's reader? Or, would I need the assistance of a professor to make my way through? (Because, if so, I know someone. . . .)

Since this is a site for promos as well--and since you like comic fantasy, you might take a look at AS THE CROW FLIES by Robin Lythgoe, who I got to know on GoodReads. I really enjoyed CROW. I laughed--a lot--with this read!
Yes. you can find it there, but make sure to get a translation--even I read it in translation! :) It's in difficult Middle English, which I can't read without help...but there are numerous translations and it's such a great story.

I've heard about this book and had it recommended to me before, so it will be another book for the "December break" pile. Thank you!
Hello! My name is Elly Helcl. I am a new author to Booklikes and I am just starting to navigate the forums. I enjoy interacting with people and I swear, I am not one of the authors who will shove my books down your throat...unless you are a reviewer....then I may send a review request =) But I promise, I stop at one request.

1. I am a fantasy reader and a fantasy writer. I have been told that my books have a very YA feel to them, until the dark creeps up on you and sucker punches you in the face :) I love doing that...I love shock value!
2. I have found the world of "Dark" writing and I don't know that I will ever emerge from the darkness...
3. The Dark Elf Trilogy (Drizzt Do'Urden). This is one of the first Fantasy novels I read and I fell in love. Drizzt inspired one of the characters in my books...though he only makes short appearances.
Welcome Elly! This is a group in which you may promote--but I, like you, wouldn't want to shove anything down readers' throats! Your works sound great!
Hi. I'm Olga Godim. I joined BookLikes a few days ago.
1. I'm a reader and a writer of fantasy.
2. My favorite sub-genre is probably traditional high fantasy with a female protagonist. I read some modern or urban fantasy too but I like it less. And (shame on me, I know) I prefer female writers. I'm not saying they're better, but they work better for me.
3. If I could claim the authorship of any book, or a a series of books, I'd be the author of Archangel by Sharon Shinn. Actually, if I could be her, I would be. She is my favorite fantasy writer. She creates such original worlds and characters. Her stories speak to me. Alas, I couldn't be her, so I'm myself and write my own stories.
Hi Olga! Welcome! It is great to have you. I understand about the female protagonists! I also agree that, while I've read some modern/urban fantasy, I like it less than the traditional high/epic fantasy. Finally, I have probably read more fantasy by men, but I have found more works of late by women that I've quite enjoyed. As to Sharon Shinn's works, I've not read them as yet. I will have to add them to my TBR list.
Hi guys!

1. Are you a fantasy reader? Writer or both? I'mboth. Currently working on novel #1 in a trilogy that falls within the Dark Fantasy genre.

2. What is your favorite sub-genre of fantasy. Epic? Dystopia? Urban? Other? Can I say all of them? I don't really have a favourite because I like them all for different reasons. :)

3. Challenge: If you could have been the author of any single work of fantasy that you did NOT author, what would that work be and why?
Michael J Sullivan's Riyria Revelations series. I simply adored that series, I thought the story was varied and well constructed, the characters realistic and belivable and the end was so well done. Just love it!

Welcome, Charlton! We are happy to have you!
Hi everyone! My name is Alice Janell and I'm an author that's still learning to navigate and use BookLikes.

1. Are you a fantasy reader? Writer Both?
- I'm both. I love fantasy in all its many forms. And after a lot of soul searching, I've gone back to writing fantasy and am very happy playing with dragons in make believe worlds.

2. What is your favorite sub-genre of fantasy. Epic? Dystopia? Urban? Other?
-My first love is epic fantasy, but I also have much fondness for the other subgenres as well. Dark, Urban, Dystopia, Romance, Steampunk, etc. I love it all.

3. Challenge: If you could have been the author of any single work of fantasy that you did NOT author, what would that work be and why?
-Such a hard question! But I think I would love to slip into Jacqueline Carey's shoes and test drive Kushiel's Dart. Her world building is just so intricate and amazing and I adore her characters, especially Phedre and Josceline.

Hello Alice! I thought I would be the only one still up at this hour, but it seems I have company. Welcome.

I, like you, am still learning BookLikes. I guess we're all in this together. . . .

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and information. If there is anything you would like to see this group do to help one another, please share!
Well, I currently live in Japan and it's about 4:30 in the afternoon for me. I'm used to the internet being a fairly lonely place in the afternoons…most of my friends are stateside. I love the night owls!
That is interesting! What are you doing in Japan?
My husband is in the Marines, so we're stationed out here. Been here for two years, have another year to go. :)
