If you read Thoreau in high school, it was Walden. (Leaves of Grass is a cool poem, but by Walt Whitman.)

LOL.. well, that perfectly illustrates my feeling about poetry, etc. I can't even keep who wrote what straight.

You're right though - looking back I had to read both that same year (Leaves of Grass and Walden) and I didn't like either; lumping them both into a 'I'd rather watch paint dry' category. Years later, I still don't really care for the style of either.
We read both the same year, as well. I like Whitman far more than Thoreau. (Possibly genetic; my mother likes Whitman, as well.)
