@Ultramarine So sorry to hear that. We're working on new book data base but it cannot be build overnight, it's advanced process in terms of tech issues and all information that it should contain. We need time to make that happen but it will happen, then all requests regarding discovering new books and new book bloggers will be easily executed. When it comes to books added manually they can be found on your shelves or in posts and they will be visible in book data base where we'll present all book entries and its editions. All we can ask for is patience and say how sorry we are for inconvenience and that we're doing our best to fulfill all your requests regarding books and other issues.
So right now since there is no option to search the website for book there is no point of adding a book (unless I review it)? and why doesn't the "shelve it" button work for ALL books on Amazon? (naturally it adds only book that as present on the booklikes database which mean there IS one..

I understand you're doing the best you can and you do listen to the requests being written here but I do think you are placing the priorities wrong. I REALLY like my blog and the interaction with other people here, I do. But I didn't sign to GoodReads (when I started monitoring my reading) to have another social media. I wanted to keep track of what I read and what I thought about it (for myself!) and what I was recommended to read. For me that is the core thing. I don't have THAT many books 250+ but some people here have double and more. It's impossible to look through them in a comfortable way (the search option is not that good - which I saw others complained about as well)

Right now I'm thinking about staying or leaving. From the beginning I preferred updating only one website, I sorta got used to updating two but as times goes by I see I use GoodReads for most things (looking for books, reading reviews, searching my books, organizing my books and shelves) and here I just update my blog (which is MUCH better here I admit) and read reviews of the few that I follow (after reading their review I check the rest of the reviews and additional book data on GoodReads). So as you can see thought this website is considered a solution out of GoodReads it's far from it.

@Ultramarine: One more time sorry. Could you please send us a link to book on Amazon that you couldn't place via "shelve it"? We'll investigate the issue and fix it ASAP (contact@booklikes.com). As I said works on book data base are in progress and we'll make everything to make it online as soon as possible. Please do mail us with any concerns or disturbing issues. We'll find the way to sort everything out.
This morning there were two I couldn't add in their ebook version. Weird thing that right now (from a different computer) I CAN add them.
1. Long Time Gone by S.E. Jakes
First I tried searching for it here through Amazon. Didn't find it by name and didn't know how to write Jakes's name (SE, S.E etc). So I went to Amazon's website. found the book and tried shelving the ebook when I got an error I shelved the paperback one (which is another thing that annoys me that most books don't have more then the paperback edition and that the editions aren't combined together).
2. All the Pretty Lies by M Leighton
Again - First I tried searching for it here through Amazon. didn't find it so went to Amazon's website. Couldn't shelve the ebook so shelved the paperback.
It happened in the past but I can't recall with which books, though most of the times I just add the wrong addition.. so I'll have something..

and I really don't understand why a book existing on Amazon can't be found here if I'm searching through Amazon's engine..
Here! I found one from a few days ago -

http://www.amazon.com/End-Affair-Vintage-Classics-ebook/dp/B0044XV5V2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1387276568&sr=8-1&keywords=The+End+of+the+Affair

this one cannot be shelved.
Here's another one

http://www.amazon.com/Reader-Bernhard-Schlink-ebook/dp/B005GQ5HB0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1387277168&sr=8-2&keywords=the+reader

I can just go through my 'to read' list and anything which isn't an ebook probably had this problem.. (since I exclusively read on my Kindle)

Question is - will I ever be able to change the edition of these books to the right one (moving the review as well) ?
@Ultramarine
The two books (Long time gone, All the pretty lies) seems to work fine, here are the links with "Shelve it" option:

http://booklikes.com/?book_url=http://www.amazon.com/Long-Time-Gone-Hell-Water-ebook/dp/B00G8RZUPE/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&sr=8-1&qid=1387277117

http://booklikes.com/?book_url=http://www.amazon.com/All-Pretty-Lies-M-Leighton-ebook/dp/B00GM78F5C/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&sr=8-1&qid=1387277045

When it comes to the third one (The End Of The Affair) we'll check and fix. Sorry for this. When it comes to search options we're dependent on Amazon's data and its technology, sometimes not all information are shared. One more time sorry for this inconvenience. We're looking at Shelve it issue as we speak.

another un-shelve-able
I have three random feature requests:
--Maybe this is already possible, but I can't figure out how: is there a way to default all posts in a group to do "notification only"? As it is, I can set individual threads to "notification only," but not the whole group preference. **edit--I know there is a way to turn on notifications for new threads, but that still means manually changing settings on every existing thread.

--On profile pics, there is a little green checkmark if someone has a "verified identity." I'd love it if you could create a similar indicator when following relationships are mutual, as DeviantArt and Tumblr do. Especially since so many of our links are mutual and it is so easy to accidentally unfollow someone (one click without any "are you sure" or anything) or miss a "follow" notification, it would be a nice feature.

--It would be great if saving a draft returned us to the draft page rather than back to the blog page.

Thanks!

Ohh yes this please! Would be very nice, and make saving while you are working on a post much nicer.
Oh--sorry, one more--a way to export our reviews, like GR or Wordpress have, would be really, really useful. Without an export, it's a chore to cross-post as well as somewhat disconcerting to know that there are no backups of reviews posted exclusively here. Thanks!
One of the main reasons I stopped posting my reviews on Goodreads was the lack of control over where those reviews were placed. One thing I would like to see is the ability to stop any user from reblogging any or all posts. There should be a way for those that do not want to share their reviews in such a manner to check a box that would limit the ability for others to reblog. Even though I hear and understand the arguments about the fact that reviews always link back to a source, sometimes the source becomes obscured. Also, on Tumblr, there are codes in which users employ to hide the source from showing when they reblog things to their own blogs. I imagine it would not be long before a code was created for similar purposes here.

I would also like to know if there is a way to block Google from taking my reviews since this was a problem I had with Goodreads. I am not very comfortable giving any site a license to use my reviews in any manner they want, as it is.

The last feature I would like to see implemented, at this time, is the option for privacy similar to the Goodreads model. I've read the arguments from both sides of the camp and while I understand that some in the BookLikes community would like a more open feel, I think it would be a big mistake to isolate users that like control over who views their content.

Other than that, I think you are all doing a good job and I hope the performance and aesthetics of the site continue to improve.
I was just browsing through my list of followers and thought of a quite useful feature that as far as I kow doesn't exist. Sometimes new follower aren't on the bottom of the list and it's quite difficult to figure out who are the new ones when the list is a little bit longer. So maybe it would be a good idea to include a sorting option - by name, date they are following you and last active.
It is just an idea and I don't know if this is doable or way too complicated.

Have a great evening and a happy new year :)

I would really like the option for sorting on the Followers page, too.

that's simple :) when you go with your mouse near the name of the shelf there are 3 small icons.
the right one is "x" when you press on it the shelf is deleted but beware! it will delete the books from your shelves as well so if you want the books to be in another shelf move them first.
Need help?
