In and of itself I would've given the novel merely two stars. I gave the third star for the illustrations and their fitting integration into the book. Winter Town is described as a great novel to curl up under the blankets and read book, and it is. Difficult to stay interested in with all the cartoons, drawings, etc. Just not my thing, I guess. Plus I prefer my YA with a little "woo woo" to it.
