I was a child the first time I read this, and although I couldn't remember the name, it made such an impression on me that I spent a (probably horrifying to the librarian) ridiculous amount of time trying to track it back down after I read it the first time. This was done primarily by informing her ...

I wanted to love this book. It has some of the most hilarious parts of all the Chrestomanci books so far. But, the second half wasn't as interesting or exciting. I also didn't like Charles Morgan, which is unfortunate since he's one of the main characters and so much time is spent on him.

The wonderful thing about Wynne Jones and this series, is how different the stories are. This one is a boarding school farce, a delight to read.

Up to now all the Chrestomanci books have taken place in Twelve-A – a world parallel to ours where magic is quite commonplace. In Witch Week we visit another world where magic is just as common, but witches are hunted and burned. We get to observe this world via the cleverly constructed microcosm ...

This book is much more juvenile-seeming that others in this series... in an alternate world, witchcraft is still a crime punished by burning, and when a student at a boarding school makes an anonymous accusation that "someone in the class is a witch" the consequences could be dire... finally, the my...
