If you'll allow me to go off topic from this graphic novel for a bit, I need to tell you about my love affair with vampires. From the time that I was 10 years old, and saw Dracula (the 1931 version with Bela Lugosi of course!), I was absolutely enamored with vampires. I read the original Dracula boo...

In his introduction to the first volume, Stephen King says the intent of American Vampire is to “reclaim” the vampire as a monster and a villain rather than a misunderstood hero. Well, mission accomplished. Mostly. The story opens in 1925 with Pearl Jones, a wannabe actress who works three jobs an...

This was recommended to me by Youngest Sis. She reads tons of graphic novels and has offered lots of great suggestions. This is one of those series that I feel will get better over time. The story takes place in the 1920s and in the 1880s. I must say that the 1920s portion was much more interestin...

Fast, stylish, very nice art, but I lost (or stopped caring about) the plot halfway through. And my tolerance for gore was pushed to the limit here.

This is definitely one of my least favourite graphic novels, which is disappointing considering Stephen King contributed.

I'll start this off by saying that I fully expected to hate this.. or at least be bored by it. Despite the fact that Scott Snyder is highly regarded in the comic industry at the moment - what with kicking all kinds of ass with the recent Batman reboot/relaunch/whatever - and perennial favorite, Unc...

Didn't like the art style, didn't like the story, didn't like the characters. Won't continue with this series.

Even though I had heard great things about Scott Snyder's "American Vampire" series, I've been hesitant in checking it out. Like many people, I'm just too "vampired-out" these days! After finally reading the 1st collection, I realize my fears were completely unfounded. Just as Scott Snyder recent...
