The Barnes & Noble ReviewA Sweet and Loving Bunny Tale Nothing scares a little one more than getting separated from his mommy. And doting mommies everywhere share this same concern. Now the illustrator of the award-winning Guess How Much I Love You addresses this universal issue with a warm and wonderful picture book. Bunny My Honey revolves around a baby bunny and his affectionate mommy, and follows Bunny through a scary experience that ends when his mommy finds him and reassures him with her love. Bunny is a happy, playful baby rabbit with a caring and compassionate mother. Mommy shows Bunny how to do "special rabbity things" like running, hopping, digging, and thumping, and when Bunny's sad, she makes things better. She also likes to call her little one "Bunny, my Honey." Mommy is a constant positive presence in Bunny's life — and a comforting character for children to experience. One day, Bunny wanders too far into the woods and gets lost: "Oh, how could such a bad thing happen? Perhaps it was a game that went wrong. Perhaps Bunny ran too far on his own." Bunny becomes frantic, and at last he starts to cry, "Mommy, Mommy, I want my mommy!" From a distance, his mother hears him and runs to his side. Then, mother and son have a joyous reunion, hugging and cuddling, and saying, "I love you." This gentle, reassuring story is filled with language that is especially conducive to being read aloud. For example, when Bunny plays with his best friends, Little Duckling and Miss Mouse, they play "quack-quacky games, squeaky games and thump-thump-thumpy games." Jeram'sexpressiveand endearing illustrations warmly capture the loving relationship between Mommy and Bunny — and make Bunny My Honey a book that's both a delight to look at and a delight to read.
