Ouch. That's harsh ...!

I was actually trying to be kinder than I felt. Truthfully, the writing was pretty good. But the contents... have to be the most paranormal-YA-romancey of ever paranormal YA romance I've ever read. Seriously, the only female characters *mentioned* in the first 50 pages are her dead mother, a high school teacher, and her best friend, and she only actually talks to the last one. All actual relationships - friend/boyfriend, captor, parent, sibling - are male. Except that "best friend".
No need to sugarcoat things as far as I'm concerned ...

I dig your honesty because I was looking at this for Halloween Bingo. Thank you for saving me time and aggravation.

IDK lots of people seemed to like this one, judging from the GR reviews. If you like the genre, this book could be the poster child for it. Maybe it's just me.

There are lots of people who like every bad book. For some people it's like the more problematic the better.

@PM yeah your review points out everything I hate about YA fantasy. @Tannat - yes!

Wow. Yes, this is one for the shelf of "nope".

I'd probably have nope'd it before I bought it, except for the book tour. I really did like the author.
