Sam Vimes clearly isn't at his best in this one -- I liked him a lot better in the sequel ("Feet of Clay"). But then, I'm chiefly reading the Night Watch books for Angua (and to a lesser extent, Carrot), so as long as there's no giant screw up there, I'm OK. And I loved Gaspode as well ... and Angua's exchanges with him.

The only other Night Watch book I have read is Guards! Guards! and I can´t remember anything about it. But I think I liked Vimes better in that one as well. And I can´t wait to read the other books in the subseries, even though it´s going to be ages before getting to them - if I stick to the buddy read schedule ;)

I´m so glad that I´m finally enjoying the Discworld books and I can´t wait to read the next one. We are allowed to start Wyrd Sisters tomorrow, right?

I am counting down to Wyrd Sisters, too.

Vimes is still one of the characters I need to get to know better. So far, he hasn't stood out for me. Angus has but not Vimes.
That makes several of us counting down to "Wyrd Sisters"! I won't need it for the bingo after all, but I'm (of course) still going to participate in the group read ...

Great :). I knew why I didn‘t start a new book today.

Vimes is my favourite character. Maybe because a lot of his views match mine. He does grow as a person - exponentially.

If that is the case, I´m really looking forward to read more about his character :)
