Ugh. I don't think you're obligated to be nice and polite. I kinda have a zero tolerance rule for jerks in my space on the internet LOL. On GR I have comments on my reviews set to friends only, but I understand why others prefer not to do that.

My advice: In cases like this just Delete and Block.

That's good advice. I don't want a dialogue with these people.
No reason you should have to :D

I'm usually a little snarky and too nice but I think I just hit my tolerance level for it.

What a bitch, I don't get why people bother posting crap like this on other peoples reviews. Too much time on her hands to sift through reviews looking for things to criticise.

It's so rude but people do it all the time.

I don't blame you. Someone else's book review is not an open forum for a discussion where you can shove your opinion down their throat. I didn't agree when the publicist did this and I don't agree when angry readers do this. It's no one else's job to tell you your opinion of a book.

I don't get these people but I guess it makes them feel better. It's kind of a joke that they get so angry and take a silly review so seriously.
Oh my god. That book. I had pretty much the same reaction to it as you.

Truly terrible and I was dumb enough to finish it and read the two sequels!
Oh, good grief. Dear God, please make this community and this website survive, because I really, really do NOT want to have to return to Goodreads. Crap like this, *and* on a seven year old review? Heaven help us.

I know, this ridiculousness happens all the time. I never see this crap going on here!

Over sexualized descriptions of female characters are one of the things that makes me reject samples. The comment was just stupid though. She obviously didn't get the point.

She just chose to get offended and saw nothing else, is my best guess.

I find that annoying too! I think lots of people have an overactive Need To Correct Strangers gland or something. And loads of them don't actually do well in reading comprehension - as in reading and understanding the point of your review.

The best (meaning most annoying) I had was someone who popped into an old review about a translation of a book that I really liked to say that it sounded bad (without explaining why) and that I should try X translation which was better - as if he was sharing news about the existance of that translation. ...And I'd actually linked to a Gutenberg ebook of X translation in my review and explained why I preferred the one I was gushing over. /facepalm

If they're going to chastise and correct, the least they can do is read the entire text of a review! I don't see the point of anyone doing this but I guess it makes them feel good.

I have a Comments policy that says I will delete anything that is hateful or vulgar. Thankfully I haven't had to use it yet. The problem is that you have to read it first, before you realize it should be deleted. I'm sorry this happened to you.

I hope you never have to use it! I'm going to just delete and ban from here on out.
