Dr. and the Medics - is that Kiss in drag? That is hilarious.

They are hilarious, and such a nice bunch of people, too.

They always seemed really aware of how campy they were being and were having fun with it. And still are touring apparently.

Finally facin' my Waterloo...

I would actually love to know if KISS' outfits inspired any of the looks in that ABBA video too - the boots on the dude on the right, (I never do remember ABBA band member names except Frieda.) I'm always amused by platform boots. And I feel sure Dr and the Medics memebers must have loved KISS! Because yes, the makeup!
I know that ABBA intentionally wore stage costumes that could not be in any way mistaken for real life clothes - because of the Swedish tax code.

Platform boots were a thing in 70s music generally, I think. (Well, not country. But anyone glam wore them, from T. Rex to David Bowie, and also ABBA, Kiss, and Parliament/Funkadelic. And that's just off the top of my head.) ABBA won the 1974 Eurovision with Waterloo, and I think Kiss did not get serious airplay until '75.

And I love all of those musicians/bands - now I really want to read a history of clothes - especially if I could find one that goes into trying to trace the platform boot. Can you imagine how great the photos alone would be?

I also want ABBA to have influenced KISS in footwear. I'm not even going to google because suddenly I like this idea a lot and don't want to find out the reality. Yet!
