If You Were Here follows Amish-zombie-teen- romance author Mia and her husband Mac (and their pets) through the alternately frustrating, exciting, terrifying-but always funny-process of buying and renovating their first home in the Chicago suburbs that John hughes's movies made famous. This book is hilarious and if you love HGTV or John Hughes movies, then it is even more of a delight.

Nothing spectacular here. Funny read but too over the top for my tastes. Nice little homage to John Hughes. I prefer the author's memoir writing.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to mark this one "DNF" for now. Haven't been able to get past the first 50 pages. I've heard much about how funny Jen Lancaster is, so I will try this one again when I am in the mood for a book like this.
