I'm not sure who it was who described this book as being for those who thought the novel Jane Eyre could have benefited from a higher body count, but they were right. I was only middling in my opinion of Jane Eyre, but I quite liked this odd book inspired by it. I'm not sure what to call it, althoug...

Super short review because I am sick and have the attention span of a gnat: If, like me, you HATED Jane Eyre and thought it would have been vastly improved by a higher body count, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU. If you LOVED Jane Eyre, this may also be the book for you as it’s somewhat similar, only mor...

Jane Steele was a darkly intense historical novel openly fashioned after Charlotte Bronte’s classic, Jane Eyre. Written in a manner befitting the mid-1800s, this may not have been a quick read but it was quite a gripping tale, nonetheless. ‘Killing for love is one of the most tangled acts you can c...

[I received a copy of this book through NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.]I have a weak spot both for retellings and for “Jane Eyre”, so no wonder I'd request this novel. And it turned out to be fairly interesting, although it's more “inspired by” than an actual “retelling”, and at times ...

So have you ever wondered how Jane Eyre would have differed if she had been a murderess? I mean how many of us wanted her to kill her aunt and cousins because they were terrible and who really didn't like how her school treated her while she was there? So this book was really up my alley. The only r...

Imagine if you will a homicidal Jane Eyre and you get the idea of what you're getting yourself into when you read this book. It has murder and intrigue and suspense. It has a love story and a mystery. And I'd like to believe Charlotte Bronte would have really enjoyed this homage to her little story.

Spoiler warning! There will be some mild plot spoilers for the early sections of Jane Steele in this review. I'm going to try to keep things vague, but it's difficult to write about without revealing some details. Even if those in today's world who never read Jane Eyre (they exist, I've met sever...

I was sold on this book when I heard somewhere along the bookish grapevine that it was Jane Eyre, if Jane was a murderess. I was also sold because Lyndsay Faye is one of my favorite historical mystery writers; I trusted her to do justice to the original Jane. Jane Steele is not a retelling. Rather i...

Available today! (March 22, 2016) (I received an ARC of this title from the publisher via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review) I’ll admit to being both intrigued and very nervous when I requested an advance copy of Jane Steele. The ad copy touts it as “a reimagining of Jane Eyre as a gut...

FGMAMTC Blog ReviewThis novel is super entertaining. I didn't know what to expect going in, but it's a real treat. I don't always get into historical reads this much, but I was so deep in Jane Steele that I lost track of time on more than one occasion.Jane is an easily loved character and an excel...
