Echoes from the Past – Answers for Julie by Cate Beauman @CateBeauman
Answers For Julie: Book Nine In The Bodyguards Of L.A. County Series - Cate Beauman

Cate Beauman writes some of the best suspense thrillers I have read and The Bodyguards of LA Country is a series that has kept me entertained for many hours.

Answers for Jule is a perfect example of why I like prologues. How about you?

She also has some pretty fantastic covers, so be sure and check them out.

Great cover job Demonza!

Answers For Julie (The Bodyguards of L.A. County, #9)

Amazon  /  Goodreads

MY REVIEW

Answers For Julie by Cate Beauman hooked me from the very beginning. It also ra

ises the question, do you like Prologues? After reading this one, you may be convinced.

Chase Rider is back in Bakersville, to fix up his grandmother’s home that he inherited when she died, and to sell it. He works for Ethan Security in Los Angeles and he is determined to head back as soon as possible. Little does he know that grandma had other plans for him. Memories surround him, so it’s off to get some comfort food, and I agree, pizza is the best. That is why I love Cate Beauman’s stories so much. She hits all the buttons and make me feel as if I am walking through the pages WITH the characters.

He, literally, bumps into Julie. She is as beautiful as ever. They had been childhood friends and sweethearts. It has been ten years, ten long years, since they have seen each other. The attraction for both of them has never left, but will they admit it? No way. In fact, Chase is being quite the **** and I wish he’d get over himself. lol

I wondered when the past would meet the future, but I did’t see this. I am only at 18% and lapping up the words like a thirsty dog. I can hardly wait to see how the story unravels. Now, I need to keep myself from racing through the pages so fast I miss the mysterious journey along the way.

A simple trip to the grocery store changed everything for Julie. Oh man, now I won’t be able to quit until the last page is read. A sense of anticipation overwhelms me and I see how Chase, the handsome hunk from Ethan Security, will come in handy, his tools, his connections with the FBI…I am at 30% and I cannot imagine what the next 70% will hold.

The romance is back and forth, yeah, expected that, but it’s not too much. Enough to seem real but not so much to make the story lag. Good job Cate. But what about the mystery? Seems cut and dried, so where are you taking this?

UH OH! I am a very suspicious and mistrusting person and I hope Julie is too.

I am always trying to figure out the story before I learn it and love when twists and turns keep my head spinning and my fingers flipping pages. I know I’ve been thinking of the right motive the whole time, but who is the villain? OH NO! I just thought…NO…that can”t be right. Then who?

My eyes are so blurry I can hardly see the words. I have to take a break.

OK, now I get why Miranda did what she did.

Every time I think the end has to be around the corner, Cate Beauman throws more mystery and danger at me. I love how she twists and turn me in the direction she wants me to go and I eagerly follow. I have a few suspects left…

Heartache, smiles, romance, love, mystery and danger. All the elements that make a perfect romantic suspense thriller, plus, putting this over the top!

I purchased Answer For Julie by Cate Beauman from Amazon back in October of 2016. I would have read it sooner had I known what I was missing.

Truth Or Fiction? Reagan’s Redemption by Cate Beauman @CateBeauman
Reagan's Redemption - Cate Beauman

Reagan’s Redemption by Cate Beauman is Book Eight of The Bodyguards of L A County Series. I have read One through Seven and Reagan’s Redemption really blew me away.

We start off with this awesome cover by Demonza

Reagan's Redemption (The Bodyguards of L.A. County, #8)

Amazon  /  Goodreads

MY REVIEW

Man, oh man, I read a lot of romantic suspense and Cate Beauman has to be up there with the best of them. Right off the bat, Cate has me teary eyed, with throat tightening emotions threatening to burst forth, when Reagan deals with a terrible loss in the Emergency Room.

That is how she ends up in the back woods of Black Bear Gap, a coal mining town in Kentucky, working as a doctor for The Appalachian Project. And…of course we must have security. Enter, Shane, a newbie at Ethan Cooke Security, there to protect her.

I love Cate Beauman’s characters, who often make cameo appearances in other’s stories, and I knew I would love Reagan and her friends too. I so look forward to seeing how she overcomes her hardships, meets the hunky guy who will fall in love with her and risk his life to protect her, and how she survives the danger that I am sure is coming her way.

Suspicion, prejudice, and oh so much more are standing in the way of Reagan being able to help the people with their medical needs. When Henry makes his evil entrance, it takes them a while, with the help of the Bodyguards in L A, to figure out what’s really going on.

I love that it takes place in the hills and it reads as if it could, would, or has been true. Innocent, hard working people are being treated wrong and someone comes in, risking everything, to make it right. Bullets fly, people die and I wonder where it will all end.

Cate really got a lot of emotions going in me, because I feel this really did happen to workers in the mining industry and I see no reason why people are still crawling underground, digging out the last remnants of an obsolete form of energy…other than greed.

I love Reagan’s makeshift family and their storybook life, but when real life danger butts its ugly head in…my heart falls to my gut and I wonder where Cate is taking this. How could Shane…well…enter Chase…WTH Cate?????

Reagan’s Redemption is not your run of the mill romantic suspense novel…girl in trouble meets hunky guy, saves her, falls in love, rebuff each other, admit defeat, and, well, you know, they live happy ever after.

The mystery, suspense, and danger come in waves, at times like a tsunami, threatening to overwhelm me. I LOVE IT!!!!!

Sex Trafficking and High Fashion in Justice For Abby by Cate Beauman @CateBeauman
Justice For Abby - Cate Beauman

I have been reading my way through Cate Beauman’s Bodyguard of LA County Series, and Justice For Abby is Book Six. I love romantic suspense and Cate can sure spin a tale that keeps me wrapped up in the mystery. I look forward to each and every one.

Cover by Demonza

Justice For Abby (The Bodyguards Of L.A. County #6)

Goodreads  /  Amazon

MY REVIEW

Justice for Abby by Cate Beauman is Book VI of the Bodyguards of LA County Series and I have been eating these romantic suspense novels up, like the M&Ms I love so much. This may be the best one yet.

Abby is taken from the rest area parking lot, right in front of her sister, Alexa, and her daughter, Livy. With the threat of harm to her family, Abby is forced to work for them, but her eye is always on escape.

After her rescue, she has lingering affects, flashbacks and panic attacks, and fears that she won’t be able to come back if she loses herself…again.

She is the prime witness for the prosecution in the trial for the traffickers. She is single handedly bringing down the largest sex ring they’d ever seen, so she has a bullseye on her back. They want her DEAD.

The traffickers are brutal, savage, only interested in themselves. The women are possessions, bought and sold, passed around like a commodity. Imagine the threat of death and torture hovering over your head, day after day, month after month, year after year, with no relief in sight.

Abby is a fighter with a big heart. She is making a name for herself in the high fashion world and paying it forward by creating opportunities for those less fortunate, hiring some of the women she knew from her captivity.

Her bodyguard, Jerrod lives with her, protecting her. He is all business, but will the sexy little kitten win over his heart? Me thinks so. I love the recurring characters and the danger that surrounds them as I wait…for that terrible something to happen.

Margret…my heart goes out to Margret and I know there is nothing Abby won’t do to try and save her.

Shelby, beware of a woman scorned and a shallow one at that. Can a villain be redeemed? I always have hope, but you’ll have to read the book to find out.

Cate Beauman describes the scenes in such vivid detail that I can see Abby dancing, singing, and shaking her bootie as she cooks and I can’t help but smile even as I type these words. Makes me want to get up and dance.

When the shit hits the fan, I love how Cate Beauman handled it and she sure has me terrified, wondering…

I love how Cate Beauman twisted and turned the normal romantic suspense beast, you know, that push and pull of attraction, the dance between yes and no, making my rating of Justice For Abby over the top.

Secrets Hidden In The Glass: A Carter Is... Secrets Hidden In The Glass: A Carter Island Novel - Cate Beauman

It takes one simple occurrence to uncover a deeply buried secret from the past.

I enjoyed the author’s Bodyguards of LA County series. When I discovered she would be releasing a new book with a different series, I was excited to get my hands on a copy.

What the story is about.

Secrets Hidden in the Glass is the story of Callie Davis and Nate Carter.  Callie is a renowned Stained-Glass artist who is facing a slump in her artistic talents. To combat the pressures and the stress, which contributed to her slump she escaped to Carter Island where she hopes to get peace, rest and her creative juices flowing again.  However, her plans never included meeting the hot and sexy sheriff of Carter Island, a meeting that would change her life in ways she never expected.

Sheriff Nate Carter was looking forward to the quiet and peaceful days, which usually accompany the autumn season.  Now that summer was over and the tourists have left the island, life could not get any better. However, the arrival of the mysterious and beautiful Callie Davis would put a kink in his plan. Shrouded by mystery, her presence unknown to them would wake up deadly and deeply buried secrets, which would place them in the cross-hairs of a killer.

What I Liked

The beginning of the story, which set the tone for the rest of the book, was intriguing. It peaked my curiosity, making me eager to discover the identity of the child abandonned twenty-two years ago and her connection to Callie Davis.  However, after sometime the story slowed down as the story focused on the life Callie is establishing with Nate.  For a moment I found my interest waning and I was tempted to give up on the story, but I am glad I stuck it out. The story heated up, when Callie made a discovery, which would set her on a path to discovering her true identity.  However, the fallout from this new development would turn her life upside down. Hounded by the media and the emergence of crackpots would prove more stressful than the very thing she came to the island to escape.

There were a few tense moments as Nate tries to uncover the secrets from Callie’s past. Some parts of the story was predictable, but there were areas where the author had me guessing the identity of the persons responsible for the tragedy in Callie’s past.

Nate proved to be a caring, funny, protective, determined and a loyal hero. The way he stood by Callie was endearing and inspiring. His determination to help her discover the buried secrets of her life was a testament to how much he cared about her.

Kind, warm and brave are the words I would use to describe the heroine.  However, sometimes I was turned off by her indecisiveness as it relates to the investigation. I recognised her propensity to cry when events from her past and present appeared overwhelming has a sign of anxiety, which was a product of the events from her past.

Together they made the perfect couple. Their relationship, which I found inspiring was built on two important ingredients love and trust.  It was these ingredients, which helped them survive the chaos, which surfaced because of Callie’s discovery. Callie found her home in Nate's loving arms and Nate discovered what it meant to love and be loved unconditionally.

I enjoyed reading about the secondary characters, both the good and bad ones. I was especially intrigued by Brad and Molly. I would love to know their story.

What I did not like.

The problem I had with this book had more to do with its length and not the story.  It was quite a lengthy story at 599 pages. Now I rarely have problems with stories that long, but when there a lot of details that does not add value and takes away from the important aspects of the story then that is when I have an issue.  This was the main thing that contributed to the slow pace of Secrets Hidden in the Glass. I skipped pages just so I could get to the important details.

Conclusion/Recommendation

Overall, Secrets Hidden the Glass was an intriguing and interesting read and one I would recommend to readers who love romance and mystery and do not mind stories filled will many details.

HE is a Stalker and he is Waiting for Wren by Cate Beauman @CateBeauman
Waiting For Wren - Cate Beauman

Oh yeah, I am back for more Cate Beauman in Waiting for Wren. I am so loving these ladies that come to Ethan Security for protection and eagerly anticipateeach new story I receive. A million thanks to you, Cate Beauman.

Each book will stand alone, and if you are into Romantic Suspense, this is a series you will want on your reading list.

I love the covers for the series. The subject matter pertains to the stories and the colors are so bright and vivid, I know I would never be able to pass by them on a bookshelf.

Waiting For Wren (The Bodyguards Of L.A. County, #5)

Goodreads  /  Amazon US  /  Amazon UK Amazon CA

MY REVIEW

As soon as Tucker heard the rustles in the woods, I knew what was coming and I am so POed. The mystery has begun and I wonder where Ethan Security comes in.

Right from the getgo, we have plenty of danger, sexual  tension, and verbal foreplay. My anticipation is at a foot tapping, sitting on the edge of my seat level.

Wren is independent. No wonder, her parents might as well have been nonexistent for the attention they paid her. She wasn’t used to being afraid, having a babysitter, and she could do a lot worse than Tucker.

Wren only has one suspect, but I have several. I think I’ve figured it out and if I have, he is truly evil, watching and reveling in her suffering. I wonder if he steps away and laughs. At least Tucker and Ethan, her brother, have not ruled out anyone, but I don’t think they see him…or do they?

Lots of stuff going on and it is torture as I wait for HIM to make his move on her and Wren to let Tucker in.

HE is jealous, determined, on the attack. I hope she doesn’t do the usual and go off without Tucker. She does get the hell out of Dodge, but it is with Tucker, as he takes her to the only safe place he can think of, Park City and the bad memories from his past.

“At some point during the drive from Salt Lake City, Rico Suave  vanished and, Broody Bummer Man appeared. She wanted Rico back.”

It’s Cate Beauman’s writing that keeps me coming back for more. I love some humor with my suspense…and romance. We all know it’s coming, but…so far…it’s hands off for both of them, though the dance has begun. How long can she hold out, because one move from her and he’ll be putty in her hands. She can deny the pull as much as she wants, but I know it will win out.

Tucker has his own problems…I love multiple plots and wonder…are they related? Will they come together in the end? Will the mystery that’s haunted Tucker finally be solved and Wren set  free at the same time? When’s it coming? I’m waiting…

I love that Cate Beauman makes me wait…Dragging out the suspense on every page. I think doom is coming. This ominous feeling hangs on every word, on every page and I am at 50%, on pins and needles…I can only imagine what evil Cate is bringing my way.

I loved when Wren finally ‘manned up’ and told Laura off. I could picture Wren stomping around the room, cussing her out in Italian…Is she a spitfire or a fireball?

It’s too soon to make life changing plans. Wren needs to stay in Limbo, for now, and I didn’t like this part at 52%.

HE’s getting more and more angry. Stalking is no longer enough. It is time to up the ante.

I do hate, that at 77%, Wren is still running from Tucker, but that is the nature of the romantic suspense beast. Gotta keep that sense of anticipation and fear for the characters at a high level, and Cate Beauman does that in a superb fashion.

I wonder what she has on the table for me next. *rubbing my hands together in eager anticipation*

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Waiting For Wren by Cate Beauman.
