Envy (The Elite Seven #4)
Envy - M.N. Forgy

Sebastian Westbrook seems to have everything: wealth, cars, fancy digs and good looks.  However, the one thing he wants seems to continuously slip through his fingers- a girlfriend.  Sebastian doesn't just want meaningless sex, he can get that whenever he wants.  He needs someone loyal to him, someone who makes him feel good about himself.  After Sebastian causes some trouble, his uncle decides to place Sebastian at St. Augustine in order to try to get him noticed by a secret society, The Elite.  Sebestian agrees since The Elite might be just the way to get him noticed by the type of woman who would treat him right.  Sebastian uses his computer skills and ruthlessness to gain a spot into The Elite.  With the Elite he finds a brotherhood and with the brotherhood, a woman who he thinks is worthy.  Sebastian's task for The Elite is easy for him and he quickly refocuses on the woman of his dreams, Sabella.  However, when Sabella doesn't agree to everything Sebastian wants, things begin to unravel and everything Sebastian has built up for himself might come crashing down.

Envy is book four in The Elite Seven Series.  I would highly recommend reading at least book three, Wrath, beforehand since the stories are inextricably linked.  Envy breaks the mold of the other Elite brothers.  Sebastian is different and he just doesn't have some qualities of the sin he is given, but truly encompasses the meaning of Envy by destroying the lives of others for what he covets and not caring about the causalities it causes. Sebastian's character is darker and isn't a character that I could get behind, but is a character I understood.  Though most of his actions are heinous, I understood his need to be part of the group and his willingness to do anything to get there.  I sort of liked the break of the obvious romantic interest that the other stories had and Sebastian's infatuation with Sabella heightened the suspense.  I really want to jump into the next book after this since so much went wrong for Sebastian at the end.

Review ~ It's okay
Emeralds and Envy - Angela McRae

Book source ~ ARC. My review is voluntary and honest.

Emma Madison used to be a newspaper reporter, but she left that grind behind to start her own business creating new jewelry from old costume jewelry and other things, like buttons. Her designs are really taking off and while she’s not rich, by any means, she’s at least making a profit. Most months anyway. One morning she hits a garage sale jackpot and heads over to show her friend Carleen, owner of the antique shop Silver Squirrel, only to get there and see the shop is a crime scene. Luckily, Carleen is okay. Not so fortunate is her employee, Tina LeMann, who has been murdered. Emma vows to Carleen that she’ll figure out who the murderer is before anyone else gets hurt. Or dead.

There’s a lot to love about this story: an eclectic collection of artists, small town living (and gossip), lots of jewelry descriptions (if you’re into that thing), and a mystery that didn’t have the murder suspect immediately pegged. And then there’s the rest. There is a lot of mundane shit happening that could have been left out. And it’s not just here and there. It infects the entire book. It all leads nowhere and doesn’t advance the plot in any way. As a long time reader, I can tell you I do not need all of a character’s daily details spelled out for me. Including the minutiae only bogs a story down especially when those details have nothing to contribute to the plot. I’m hoping the next book is more streamlined. In addition, Emma is a bit irritating. Just because she was once a reporter, doesn’t mean she can run around town investigating a murder and not suffer consequences. I tolerated her fairly well though except for the scene at the police station where she gets all high and mighty with the detective. I really despised her dumbass attitude in that instance. I mean, seriously? Ugh. However, while this first book isn’t ideal, I’m still interested enough to see what else happens in a Roseland, Georgia sequel.

Seven Sins had nothing for me anymore.
That is until she walked in.
Eliana doesn’t remember me, she wouldn’t.
Taken from me years ago, I had no choice but to say goodbye.

It’s time to right the wrongs of the past.
But there are secrets woven into our lives that will soon spill over.

I’d always envied my brother. We were always at war.
But now it’s time to ask for his help.
To put our differences aside and save the girl I love.

Let's start off by saying this is a brand new author for us and we really enjoyed our first book by them.I am looking forward to going back and starting this series from the very beginning and see where it leads us.

OMG! I really didn't know what to say about this story other than it was so Twisty,Dark,Erotic-very dark, gritty, made you edgy, and uncomfortable at times but, It was all so descendant that you were hooked and engrossed from the very first pages.

The plot was full of a ton of surprises and also had a love triangle of sorts as two brothers loved the same women but, only one of those held her heart. The plot thickens as something sinister threatens them all and their lives as they know it will change forever.

Asher-OMG! He was a dark predator, dangerous, dominate, possessive, highly sexual, sexy is sin,and protective.Asher's dark aura even scared the crap out off me. LOL

Eliana-I found her to be broken and consumed by revenge, lethal as well as deadly, aloof and a little bit of a loner and highly crafted at what she was trained to be and that was a killer.

Overall the story had a great cast of character's both good and the bad.The story was engrossing suspenseful and had some major secrets come to light but,was also about a second chance at love with the one you have loved most of your life. With a road well traveled that was dark and very dangerous they might finally get their happily ever afters.

We loved it!Recommended to read to all those that love dark and twisted gritty romance full of heat.

P.S.We love reading stories love this every now and then something out of our comfort zone.We liked seeing character's who have been living in the dark for so long and come into the light and finally start living again.

Envy of Angels by Matt Wallace
Envy of Angels - Matt Wallace
This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books.

This was just okay for me. I have heard great things about this series so this book has been on my to be read list for some time. I bought a copy of the book but had not had the opportunity to sit down and read it just yet so when I saw that the audiobook was available through my library, I decided to go that route. It is a rather short piece so I was able to finish it in just a couple of days. I didn't fall in love with this book but did enjoy some aspects of the story.

This book was weird. I like weird books so that shouldn't have been any kind of problem but this book is really weird. Not normal weird but undead clowns worshipping a giant chicken kind of weird. This book had a certain crazy that went along with the weird and I think it was just a bit much for me at times. It was definitely unique and unlike anything else that I have ever read.

Darren and Lena get the chance to work for a catering company called Sin du Jour. Sin du Jour is not your normal group of caterers. They have a very original menu and clientele that sometimes come to them with special requests. Serving the wrong kind of meal could have devastating consequences for the employees of Sin du Jour. I thought that the way that the staff of Sin du Jour interacted with each other felt rather authentic.

The narrator was just okay for me as well. I believe that this is the first time that I have had the chance to listen to Corey Gagne's narration. I have to admit that I didn't care for some of the voices that he used especially for the female characters. It was difficult to determine who was talking at times. I thought that he did have a pleasant voice that brought excitement to some of the scenes but I was never quite able to completely move past my dislike for some of the voices used. I would probably be willing to give this narrator another try in the future with a different kind of story.

I think that some readers may enjoy this story a bit more than I did. It was a really interesting concept with some really exciting scenes. The book did cause me to swear off all chicken nuggets at least for a little while. I am probably not going to continue with this series but I am glad that I decided to give this story a listen.

Initial Thoughts
This was weird. Not normal weird but undead clowns worshiping a giant chicken kind of weird. It was definitely unlike anything else that I have read before. The narrator was okay. I didn't care for some of the voices that he used especially for the female characters.

Envy
Envy - Anna Godbersen

Oh ffs. DNF at 230 pages.

I. Am. Done.

I loved the first 2 books in this series but this one makes my eyes want to bleed. Henry is like a mindless ping pong ball that only thinks with his little ping pong dick. Penelope is so evil it is hard to believe she is a real character. Carolina's selfishness knows no bounds. She loved Will enough to lose her job and plan to run away, but when she finds out he's dead, oh well. "I'm rich now. Fuck you." No, fuck you, Lina, you stuck up maid who seems to have forgotten you are living a lie. My God, I only read these for Elizabeth and Will. And Will died which crushed my soul. WHY DO THE GOOD ONES GET KILLED OFF?! So now this book series is just Penelope and Diana playing tennis with Henry while Elizabeth doesn't know she's pregnant with Will's baby and Lina is just a sneeze away from total, justified social ruin. Fml. I'm going to read something that doesn't make me want to stab myself in the ear with a pencil.
