Isn't this just everything?
Grace beside me - Sue McPherson

So I struggled with this book. Sadly, I simply didn't find it that interesting. But I have some serious love for this final page and it's an ending like this that makes me so glad that I read it.

Lisa Grace - Author

Hi, I'm Lisa Grace- Where good meets evil. Welcome to my Booklikes blog. I write books and stories about how compromising who you are can have ...Well, you'll see. My YA books show how the real supernaturalworld is always around us. And my adult history mysteries do to, but to a lesser extent.

The difference between vampires and angels? Angels are real.

Angel in the Shadows, Book 1 is currently free as an ebook from Amazon, B&N, iTunes, Smashwords, Kobo, Sony, & Deisel bookstores.

The Angel Series volume contains Angel in the Shadows, Book 1; Angel in
the Storm, Book 2;
and Angel in the Ice, Book 3. The Angel Series is optioned for film by Motion Picture Pro Studios, (which has been involved with five academy award winning movies), and is currently in development.

Fifteen-year-old Megan Laughlin has a gift or what seems like a curse at times—to see angels. When Judas, an evil angel, enrolls in her high school he threatens to destroy her family, friends, and classmates. Why has Judas targeted Megan and those she loves?

Angel in the Shadows, Book 1
Fifteen-year-old Megan Laughlin has a gift; or what seems like a curse at times. Megan sees angels and demons.
Megan knows her destiny is to protect her friends against dark angels who try to sway them into situations that can destroy their souls, their lives, and their eternity.
At school she recognizes an über popular boy, as a demon hell-bent on destroying
her and everyone she loves. As Judas spreads horrible rumors and overdoses two
of her classmates at a rave, Megan realizes the enormity of his power. While classmates die, Megan, with the help of an angel, Johnny, and a team of friends will face the fight of their lives as they battle Judas.
Megan thinks God hasn't given her any "special" powers, but discovers she has what she needs as she confronts Judas and his seemingly unconquerable power.

Angel in the Storm, Book 2
Max, Megan's younger brother, is missing. He's been sold to human traffickers in New Orleans by the evil angel Judas. Megan is soon arrested and charged with her missing brother's murder. The only way to clear her name is to find Max. With the help of Johnny, who is a good angel, and her friends, Megan is soon on the run in a desperate attempt to find and rescue Max.
When Judas offers her an impossible choice--how can Megan choose? The battle continues as lives are threatened and lost, not only by the rising waters of a hurricane, but in a climatic confrontation with Judas, and some will not make it out alive...

Angel in the Ice, Book 3
Megan Laughlin has a gift, or what seems like a curse at times, to see angels. Judas, an evil angel enrolled in her high school, tags along with her youth group on their winter-break ski trip.
While in the mountains of North Carolina, an approaching blizzard provides Judas the perfect cover-- to up the death count and gather more souls. Meanwhile, Seth discovers his gift, Sam fights his drug addiction, and Megan is confronted by Judas to deliver on her promise.
Seemingly harmless temptations have life-changing consequences for the survivors at the resort.

When I'm not writing about the supernatural, I enjoy what I call real life history mysteries.

The 15th Star

Set during the War of 1812:
In the fall of 1809 Grace Wisher, a young slave girl, escapes the plantation to live her life in the port city of Baltimore, Maryland. She is indentured to Mary Pickersgill who teaches her the skill of sewing flags and standards. Yet Grace is hiding a terrible secret, one men will murder for even hundreds of years later.
In the present, Keiko Zorben is finishing her master's degree by working as an intern at the Smithsonian Institute. While archiving mislabeled letters, she finds a clue to the whereabouts of the missing star from the Star Spangled Banner. For over two hundred years its location has been a real-life mystery, until now.
Keiko asks the handsome Dr. Julian Lone Wolf, the head of the American Indian Studies Department, to join her on her search for the missing star.
When a docent is murdered and an attempt is made on their lives, Keiko and Julian realize finding the missing star and the secret it holds, is their only key to survival.
"The 15th Star" has been compared by first readers as a mix of "National Treasure" meets "1776".

Grace Kelly (photographer and year, unknown), reading The Silent World, by Jacques Cousteau
The Silent World (hardback) - Jacques-Yves Cousteau

I wish I were leisure reading.

(and maybe looking as cool as Grace Kelly, but that's a reading fantasy for another day :-p).

15K+ words on POISON GARDEN: An Elle Black Penny Dread (thanks to the amazing versatility of Scrivener), and 1 more illustration to complete for the SUNDARK paper book.

I have been reading, all for research. Victorian cookbooks and garden books are fascinating and all, but for the sake of expediency I'm only looking up what I need (all vegetable dishes, for one; large estate gardens with conservatories, for another). It's a bit of a dilemma listing my 'am reading' list when there really is no realistic goal to finish such books. Kind of like listing how to fix plumbing manuals, where one reads only the section on replacing a garbage disposal.

Therefore, my 'am reading' list is just going to grow, and though I hate being a dilettante with the subjects of my books---because as an obsessive-compulsive, I prefer being thorough and knowing *everything*---I do know that if I read all 400pp of Human Zoos: The Invention of the Savage in order to write a brief subplot to Dark Victorian: EVERLIFE, I'm not going to get any writing done.

The version of The Silent World, by Jacques Cousteau, that Grace Kelly is reading is a first print hardcover (of course), and can still be found around. I just listed the 2004 version, though the collector in me would like a 1st edition copy. ;)

The Silent World - J. Y. Cousteau with Frederic Dumas

Love this photo of Grace Kelly and finally found the title she's reading in this pic. The Silent World : A story of undersea discovery and adventure, by the first men to swim at record depths with the freedom of fish, by J. Y. Cousteau, 1953, the hardcover edition, though the one pictured at Amazon is one cover variation.
