A Big Surprise for Valentine's Day
A Big Surprise for Valentine's Day - Jackie Lau

The last book in this series about Amber the youngest Wong sibling. Amber has a history of dating assholes so she is on a no boyfriend kick. Sebastian is back in town to open his own practice. They met in a grocery store.
I could believe their romance. I think it helped they knew each other growing up (Sebastian was friends with Zach). I liked it when Sebastian stood up to his parents.

A Fake Girlfriend for Chinese New Year
A Fake Girlfriend for Chinese New Year - Jackie Lau

This was a short and sweet story about a friends to lovers romance. Both Jo and Zach had previous serious relationships that didn't work out and each had their heart broken. They became friends over their shared misery/mourning. Fast forward a few years and Jo has a crush on Zach. It isn't until Zach needs a fake girlfriend to get his parents off his back that he begins to realize he has feelings too. (In the first book, the Wongs set each kid up with a date).
The Pictionary scene was hilarious and my fav part of the book.

A Second Chance Road Trip for Christmas
A Second Chance Road Trip for Christmas - Jackie Lau

This was just what I needed. Tasha and Greg started dating when they were 16 and dated for 3 years before breaking up. They were both in college- different schools and that needed to be the focus. They each both wanted to experience life. Fast forward 15 years and they are both single at 34.
I liked Greg from book 1 and wanted to read his story. This was short, but worked since you get enough information from their past relationship (Valentine's, candy bar, snow fort, necklace). The "Herbie and Ethel" moment was hilarious. Then there was the Wong family; Ah Ma and Mrs Wong (I don't think we ever learn what her name is) and their matchmaking.
I like the 'forced proximity" trope since it forces conversation (and the revelations it usually shows).
Pre-ordered Zack's story (Chinese New Year).

Hudson and the Puppy: Lost in Paris (Paris-Chien 3) - Jackie Clark Mancuso
Hudson and the Puppy: Lost in Paris (Paris-Chien Adventure) - Jackie Clark Mancuso

I like it much more after reading Paris-Chien, which also gives a journey through Paris. I have not yet read Hudson in Provence, but now I really want to. I'm thinking of it like Agatha Christie's infamous disappearance.
Please publishers and librarians: if a book is part of a continuing series, please identify it as such. I really hate getting home and realizing I've chosen one out of sequence. It doesn't have to be a big deal: just a little "Paris 3" on the cover would tell me to look around before I leave. Even if it's not available I'm happier, knowing to hold on to this one until my other orders come in. Also it would make it less likely that stores or libraries would only carry part of the series. Thank you.
