Catching Fire Poster

I've seen and reviewed the Catching Fire movie. In one word, brilliant!

Day 16 - Favorite female character

I know most female readers do love kickass women, and these are some representations of such. But they’re complex kickass women. They have flaws and weaknesses and problems that don’t have easy answers. In other words, same rules as with the men: lots of character development.

Again the books from series feature my favorite moments in their storylines. Also, you can say whatever you want to say about Mockingjay, but Katniss was amazing in that book.

  • Jessie Burlingame (Gerald’s Game by Stephen King)
  • Lisbeth Salander (The Millennium Trilogy: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson)
  • Daenerys Targaryen (A Song of Ice and Fire: A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin)
  • Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins)

Day 19 - Favorite book turned into a movie
The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

Um, none? I feel that most books would do better being turned into TV shows (AGOT and True Blood season 1 come to mind) because it allows for more long-form storytelling.

But if I have to choose the least disappointing one, I'll go with The Hunger Games. The book was written like it was a movie anyways, so it didn't really lose too much in the translation from book to screen.

Y'all thought I would put the PTerry movies didn't you? NOPE - they are good, but not nearly as good as the books. Because nothing's as good as PTerry is.

The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins
Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins
Collins, Suzanne's Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, Book 3) Hardcover - Suzanne Collins

On day 57 of working out every day; inspired by Katniss' determination to put one foot in front of the other, no matter the obstacle.
