Some thoughts about Tumblr and Livejournal

It's been quite some time now since I had to leave Tumblr, when Yahoo bought it. Since I've already posted links to the articles explaining the reasons I don't want anything to do with Yahoo, I'm not going to do it again. In the end, it doesn't really matter. I wanted to leave and I did. After all, it's up to me to stay or go, whichever way I want it.

However, I do miss the people on Tumblr. Where I am now, there are plenty of great and very nice people, but not the Tumblr people (well, some, but not enough, I think). I really wish some Tumblr people could get Wordpress blogs too. The software is actually much better for text posts than Tumblr (which is really good at media posts).

I know there are some Tumblr people on Booklikes, so that's ok. Actually, it's funny. When I discovered Booklikes I had my Tumblr(s) and wasn't looking for anything new, then very soon afterwards, the news of Yahoo buying Tumblr came and suddenly I needed a new blog. Booklikes works rather like Tumblr. On the other hand, since it's meant to be a book blog, I can't post much about other things.

I also miss the people from Livejournal. For various reasons (not the same as the ones that made me leave Tumblr) I decided to leave LJ too. In a way, I'm happy with what I have (Wordpress, Booklikes, Dreamwidth), but I still miss many of the fan fiction people from LJ. It would be great if DW could get a little more active. Or maybe it's just me. Maybe I've failed at finding the right groups of people there. Since I've had so much fun with fan fiction, it would be rather a shame to lose touch with that world. Don't get me wrong, fanfic writing is still as much fun, just like writing original fiction, but being alone is less fun.
