Thoughts on my Book Year of 2014

Finally! I've had some time and have now caught my breath from my holiday hiatus so I can gaze back on 2014 with regard rather then frantic reaction.

What a year! It was a year of many surprises, fond memories, and new book friends.

A Sail to the Past 2014 Wrap Up Post

I'm glad I set this at Scholar, as I did manage to read five books, which puts me firmly in that category. I'd hoped to read seven, but that just didn't happen. So I did manage to complete this one...but I'm still a bit disappointed as I'd hoped to read more.

I need to try harder next year to take time for non-fiction books.

1) Gettysburg by Stephen Sears : Review here. Analysis post: here.

2) The Civil War in 50 Objects: Review here.

3) The Smithsonian's History of America in 101 Objects: Review here.

4) Souvenir Nation: Relics, Keepsakes, and Curios from the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History: Review here.

5) Dawn of the Belle Epoque: The Paris of Monet, Zola, Bernhardt, Eiffel, Debussy, Clemenceau, and Their Friends: Review here.

Read It Again, Sam 2014 Wrap Up Post

Wrap Up Post for 2014 Challenge!

When I signed up for this, I thought this would be the challenge I'd go overboard on. I've always been a huge rereader and there were several series I'd been meaning to tackle.

That...didn't quite happen. Oh, I definitely read more then 16! I think I managed to do that in two months, at the longest. But by the middle of the year...I kinda dropped off. I was really working through Audiobooks and had discovered too many great new books through all you wonderful people here. So, while I reread 50+ books this year, I expected it to be so much more.

I'm glad it's not though. I've never been more adventurous then this year and have enjoyed nearly every moment. So thank you all for helping me not hit my personal goal in this one.
