The Renegade Star Series Book 4...
Renegade Lost - JN Chaney

I was going to summarize the plot myself but every sentence I came up with made the story sound cheesy and did it absolutely no justice so I'm going to post the blurb and leave it at that.  : )

A lost ship. An unknown civilization.

The Renegade Star is stranded, its engines totally shot, surrounded by the unknown. Floating in the dead of space, they receive a strange transmission from a nearby planet, warning them to stay away or face the consequences.

When the message mentions how this world belongs to Earth, the lost cradle of humanity, Captain Jace Hughes knows he has no choice but to investigate.

With an endless snowstorm, bloodthirsty animals around every corner, and no sign of any colonies or people, the mission won't be an easy one.

Good thing they sent in the Renegade.

Experience a sprawling galactic tale in this fourth entry to The Renegade Star series. If you're a fan of Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, or Leviathan Wakes, you'll love this epic, space opera thriller.

This is a great series you just want pure entertainment. It's lots of fun, tons of action and the characters, especially Jace and Siggy, the ships A.I. will make you laugh.

*If you like audio books the narration is really good. Publisher's Pack #1 contains books 1 & 2 and Publisher's Pack #2 contains books 3 & 4.

The Renegade Star Series Book 3...
Renegade Moon - JN Chaney

This book is a continuation of Jace and his crew's search for Earth and their neverending battle to stay two steps ahead of the enemy. Perfect series if you like a lot of action, space battles and laugh out loud humor. The audio narration (Publisher's Pack #2) is also really good.

I didn't get to hear from Siggy, my favorite AI as much in this book though. : (

The Hatching Series Book #3 - Zero Day...
Zero Day: A Novel (The Hatching Series) - Ezekiel Boone

I was disappointed in this final book. It didn't do anything for me like the first two books. The pace was so slow and nothing exciting happened. I honestly got bored with it. The best part was the last few chapters I thought, up until the ending that is. Their solution for killing the spiders and saving the world was so completely anti-climatic it was utterly ridiculous.

The Handmaid's Tale: Special Edition
The Handmaid's Tale: Special Edition - Margaret Atwood,Claire Danes

Since I'm practically the last person on the face of this earth to read this book I'm not even going to waste time doing an overview. I've been digesting this book for over two weeks now. I listened to the audio performance and I thought that might've had some effect on my feelings about this book so I went back and actually read parts of the book that I was conflicted about and I still feel the same way.

We were given the story soooooo slowly and piecemealed together based on whatever Offred decided she might or might not throw out there and I felt like I was pulling teeth trying to get the full picture. I seriously felt like I needed to jump to the end of the book to see if I could get a clearer picture of the entire story and then come back and read the beginning.

Then on top of that, there weren't any clear separations in the audio so it was extremely hard for me to tell if Offred was having flashbacks or if those scenes were happening at that moment. Needless to say, I got off to a very rocky start.

It wasn't until over half-way to three-quarters in, that I finally started actually enjoying the book and then - it just ENDED! Omg, I was so freaking mad. I could not believe it. I absolutely hated that ending! Yeah I got the gist

that she escaped

(spoiler show)

but I do not like having to infer an ending. It drives me nuts! I like to know 100% that yes, this happened or no, it didn't happen. Not to mention, they never did tell us what happened with her family- or did they and I missed it??

Land of Bones: 14 Tales of the Strange & Macabre
Land of Bones: 14 Tales of the Strange and Macabre - Glenn Rolfe

This was a nice collection and variety of short stories for any fan of the horror genre! I normally don't read too many short stories because I hardly ever get that feeling of satisfaction that I get when reading a full length story but I read these in between work projects and I found they were just what I needed and the perfect length for the amount of time I had to spare. I really came away with a deeper appreciation of short stories and how useful they can be in certain situations. I know I won't shy away from them now like I use too.

My favorite stories in this collection were- Not in Kansas Anymore, Avenging Kitten, Welcome to Paradise, The Fixer, The Rooster, and Too Much of a Dead Thing

*I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
