Interesting post about word counts — @worddreams

This is a post that is a couple of years old, but it's always nice to see, plain and simple, what your word count is expected to be within a specific genre.

An excerpt:

If a contract calls for a book that is 100k words and you turn in one that is 130k, expect to go back and find a way to shave 30k words off that puppy before your manuscript is accepted.

Remember that part of the payout schedule of an author’s advance often dangles on that one important word: acceptance.

And here for the blog post: Make Every Word Count

Ebooks and paperbacks... Musings

I don't know if you are all aware of the fact that buying a paperback book with Dreamspinner Press also gives you the right to download the eBook. I find this absolutely charming. Brilliant.

Are other publishers doing this too?

And wouldn't it be just FABULOUS if it were the other way around? (Or, at least, heavily discounted). First, you get the eBook becasue you want to read it NOW, and then you love it so much that you want to have the DTB in your shelf. Just to look at it. Touch it.

Is there a publisher out there that does that?
