Brent Kelly is a laid-back tradesman whose only concerns are drinks with friends and which man to bed next. In need of a new accountant to sort out his nightmarish shoebox of tax receipts, he’s referred to Logan Willis.

He doesn’t expect to be intrigued by the science fiction-loving, geeky guy with dark-rimmed glasses and a TARDIS-blue shirt. So his fascination with the soft-spoken Englishman surprises him, and their mutual attraction is completely unexpected. He most certainly never expects to fall in love.

One a jock and the other a geek, both men know the differences between them are vast and could cause problems. But in this opposites-attract erotic drama, maybe it’s the differences between them that make staying together worth the fight.

Review

Taxes and Tardis is such a lovely sigh of a sexy romance.

It could have been more complex with some of the character work but what is here is so good. It would have been a 5 star read if we had both points of view.

I love a geek hero and I love it when someone gets gobsmacked.

Both heroes are kind and so into each other.

This is a delight.

Meine Meinung:

Dieses eBook schlummerte schon eine ziemlich Weile auf meinem Reader. Doch bisher konnte ich mich nicht dazu durchringen. Warum kann ich nicht einmal sagen. Vielleicht war es einfach noch nicht die richtige Zeit. Aber das ist nun vorbei. Ich habe dieses Buch von seinem Schicksal befreit und bin begeistert.

Emily und Elyas sind ein wirklich interessantes Pärchen - der halt eben kein Pärchen. Nach Jahren voller Missverständnissen, Anschuldigungen und voller Hass, stehen sie sich plötzlich wieder gegenüber. Zusammengeführt durch seinen Schwester und ihre beste Freundin Alex, können sie sich nicht aus dem Weg gehen.

Und so beginnt ein Kampf der Beiden, die dieses Buch durch Missverständnisse und freche, sowie scharfe Dialoge zu einen kurzweiligen und überaus unterhaltsamen Lesevergnügen macht.
Ob als Hörbuch (gelesen von Marie-Isabel Walke) oder als eBook, immer kann man der Geschichte mit Spannung und humorvollem Interesse folgen. Zu keinem Augenblick habe ich an der Glaubwürdigkeit der Charaktere und an ihren Gefühlen gezweifelt. Weder an Elyas noch an Emilys, aber auch nicht an Alex oder an all den anderen in der Clique.

Emily erzählt uns ihre Geschichte aus Liebe, Verrat, aus himmlischen Gefühlen und abgrundtiefer Verzweiflung. Das schafft die Autorin in jeder Zeile der Geschichte auszudrücken - durch Worte, durch Taten und Gefühl. Ich habe gelacht, gebangt, habe Emily den Kopf gewaschen und auch Elyas. Ich habe all das was ich gelesen und gehört habe, als Film vor meinem geistigen Auge gesehen. Und immer habe ich darauf gehofft, das die Beiden endlich alle Missverständnisse aus dem Weg räumen und über ihre Verletzungen hinweg kommen, damit sie ihr Happy End erleben können. Doch leicht wollte Carina Bartsch es den Beiden nicht machen und immer wenn ich dachte, jetzt hat sie ihnen den Weg geebnet, da steht wieder eine riesige Mauer im Weg.

Marie-Isabels Stimme passt wunderbar zu der Figur der Emily. Sie bringt die richtige Dosis an Trotz, Unsicherheit, Hoffnung und Traurigkeit rüber und verleiht meiner Kopfkino-Emily die perfekte Stimme. Selten passte eine Stimme so perfekt zu dem Bild in meinem Kopf, wie hier. Also ob ihr Buchstaben oder Vorleser bevorzugt, hier passen beide.

Carolyn Cannot Live Without Books!

Anthology - 3.8 stars average up to 4

1. Night Scream by Denise A. Agnew. An assistant at a secret agent office meets an agent who is to help them out. While he's trying to keep her out of harm's way, they're finding they are attracted to each other. This story was enjoyable. ***1/2

2. Body Chemistry by Tawny Taylor. So good!!! Loved, loved, loved this story. Geeky chemist and a co-worker. Who knew the guy was so hot? Great story. I'm planning on reading more by this author. ***** 5 stars

3. Earthwork by Annie Windsor. I couldn't get into this story and stopped reading it. No rating.

4. Ghost of a Chance by Shiloh Walker. Pretty good story, a ghost and his fiance' get a second chance for justice and love. ***

5. Past Running by Mlyn Hurn. Aeryn meets Sheriff Devlin when he comes to talk to her about an old boyfriend. They find out through adversity that they care for each other. Or at least he does. ***1/2

6. The Beckoned by Jaid Black. Wai has dreamed of a man since she was a baby with the dream relationship moving on to things more intimate. Someone they end up meeting and have to figure out a way to be together. She describes him as ultra alpha in the beginning but when he finally makes an appearance, he's alpha-ish. Still, the story was good. ****

Incontinent on the Continent: My Mother, Her Walker, and Our Grand Tour of Italy

I have to admit, up until the last chapter of the book, I would've given the book two stars. For a majority of it, Jane Christmas complains about how Italy doesn't live up to her expectations and the difficulties of managing a disabled mother in accessible-unfriendly Italy. Her constant allusions of mother-daughter pairs she sees on the road or town attitudes or statues to her own relationship with her mother were at best awkwardly paced and reflected upon. But the last chapter makes much of the whining worth it. The book also touches upon the soul and history of many of Italy's touristic gems, so if you want a rough and tumble look at what it is like to travel in Italy, plus a little bit of familial reflection on the side, this is the book for you.
