I chose this video of the U.S. Women's 4 x 100 Relay World Record at the London 2012 Olympics to make a connection with book, Patina, that I am reading. The connection that its has with my book is the main character Patina is running as the anchor for the girl's relay at their next meet. The details in the book that led me to this is the fact that Patina runs track and one of her events is the 4 x 100 Relay. The knowledge of my own that led me to this idea was that I remember watching the women set the world record live back in the summer of 2012.

Author and illustrator Peter Brown cites The Twilight Zone, 50s B movies and their movie posters as inspiration for his collaboration with Aaron Reynolds for the book Creepy Carrots. Very interesting to see the creative process of an illustrator.

Children books are not just for kids.  Carnivores by Aaron Reynolds, illustrated by Dan Santat is an example of a book that can be enjoyed by both.  Plus, this book trailer is hilarious!  There is an extended version as well.
