Quick thoughts on Firefight
Firefight - Brandon Sanderson

Another enjoyable read, didn't lead where I was expecting which was nice and I rather enjoyed our outcast crew member showing up again.

Ended on a high note, very much looking forward to the next book.

Black & White
Black and White - Caitlin Kittredge,Jackie Kessler

This book was unlike anything I ave ever read before, it was fantastic. I adored the characters, all of them - they had such gritty and interesting history's and personalities that we had the incredible opportunity to explore, with not only 2 different POV but also two time frames, the current moment and that past. It was executed superbly.

The world was fascinating, the corporate has taken over the world, pretty much the new government. They decide how things should be. They're doing a pretty lousy job, the world is crud, rape, murder, beatings all happen on a frequent basis on the ground. Then you have a school filled with special kids with incredible (and vastly different to what I've read in the past) abilities, these kids are raised to be hero's and fight crime - some of them turn evil, or as we call them villains. Of course they're life is a lot cushier then the ground so normal people either go all crazy fan-girl over them or despise them.

Our two main characters are Jet and Iri, one's a villain, one's a hero - they use to be best friends. we find out all the dirty details and its fantastic. both have had terrible and difficult lives that are worth exploring as they give more details and history into the world and culture of this dark and twisted place.

I highly recommend this book, to me it seem like a comic book transfer into a novel with no pictures. Though thats not saying much as i've read like 4 comics in my life, but you get the incredible characters, the enchanting back stories, and some crazy plot story with super hero's. Really whats not to love? read it, you wont regret it. ;)

All-New X-Men #41
All New X-Men #41 - Brian Michael Bendis

3.5 Stars, Borrow it

Self Purchase, Comixology

Shield asks some of the X-Men students to help them on Utopia. They arrive and meet the Utopia Mutants. There is some fighting but they all seem to end on decent terms. The utopians end up at the new mutants school. And there it ends. This story line will be concluded in another x title so this was it.  I wasn’t terribly impressed with it, but it wasn’t terrible either.  Will need to start with another X title.

Description (comixology): Who are the Utopians? And what secret do they hold that pertains to the future of mutantkind? The All-New X-Men may regret finding out!

Gotham City Sirens #20
Gotham City Sirens #20 - Peter Calloway

3 Stars, Borrow it

Self Purchase, Comixology

Most of the issues of Gotham City Sirens up until this point had been pretty decent.  This is the lowest rating I’ve given any of them (I think). This is all about Harley going after the Joker. Nothing with Catwoman or Poison Ivy, which I really think was the point of this series.  While this wasn’t terrible, it still needed work. I felt like it was disjointed in places and the digital jumps didn’t seem to work right in all of the places. I will keep reading them as I think I got all of them but if they get worse, I may give up on them.

Description (Comixology): "Hell Hath No Fury" part 1! Harley Quinn heads to Arkham Asylum, but this time she's breaking in to find Joker and pay him back for all the abuse he's dished out over the years. Can the Sirens rein her in before it's too late, or will Harley have the last laugh?

All- New Xmen VOlume 1
All-New X-Men, Vol. 1: Yesterday's X-Men - Stuart Immonen,Brian Michael Bendis

3 Stars, borrow it

Self Purchase, Comixology

SPOILERS

At first I liked this, but by the end of the 3rd/4th issues, I got bored. I usually like Bendis writing but this just wasn’t interesting me. I read enough to give this a rating but I am abandoning this at 75% because life is too short for stuff you are not enjoying.  I did like that two of my favorite X-Men were in this- Hank (The Beast) and Kitty Pryde. Love them both.  I  also liked how there’s some great lines and good humor.   However, time travel stuff just confuses me so I tend not to read it (With the exception of Exiles which I loved.).  Anyway, this series has been cancelled anyway so maybe I’ll just go back to Astonishing X-Men or start with Uncanny Xmen.

Plot/Storyline:  The first issue is all about rescuing these new batch of mutants. Plus, Scott Summers is basically trying to start a mutant civil war, Hank goes to the past to get the old Scott to talk some sense into the new “revolutionary Scott .” A very promising beginning to this series. The second issue, Hank is able to bring a handful of mutants from the past to the future to try to stop Scott. Something happens to Hank which no one seems to understand what it is.  I was a little confused by the ending of issue two and hope issue 3 maybe explains the ending a bit better. Issue 3- Cyclope, Magneto and Magick (?) are creating their own new school- where Wolverine was created. Some violence happens and I’m a bit confused as to what happened but Magneto and Cyclops are stopped by military.  Emma Frost appears. And it seems that some of the mutants powers have changed. FInally there is another new mutant who appears.

Description (Comixology): It's a blast from the past as the original 5 students of Professor X -- Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Angel and Beast -- are plucked from the past and brought to the present. But they find their future and the state of Xavier's dream is far from what they dreamed of. And how will the X-Men of the present day react to these original X-Men?
