Ace: A Secret Baby Sports Romance - Tia Siren

This doesn't contain dark and dangerous themes.  It contains some too stupid to live characters.  Aside from the characters having a past together, I have no idea what anyone sees in anyone else.  The hero drinks when he is upset.  He sleeps with just about anyone.  The heroine makes a martyr of herself.  She lies throughout the story about everything.  But, especially about her daughter.  The hero gets drunk at a bar with some friends, sticks his hand up a strange woman's skirt and then decides he wants the heroine instead, so he shows up outside her apartment shouting and waking up all her neighbor's.  The hero tells the heroine there was a woman earlier in the night, but they still have sex - without a condom.  This was ridiculous.  I'm glad it was free.

Avalon - Shiloh Walker

I've enjoyed a number of Shiloh Walker's books.  I think is an earlier work that's been re-published, but I'm not sure.  It seems like an earlier book.  Anyway, I didn't care for it a whole lot.  It's short and you don't really get to know the characters, although there's a lot of angst.

The story opens with Seth and Erin having a physical relationship while they work together for the Avalon police department.  Seth loves Erin but she will not say the words back and she will not give him the relationship he wants.

Erin is psychic and knows that she will die before her thirtieth birthday so she doesn't want to commit to Seth in effort not to hurt him further.  So, Seth ends the relationship.

Then, it's three years later.  Seth is engaged to another woman and still works for the police department.  He is hunting a serial killer.  Erin also still works for the police department and is the serial killer's next target.

Eva, Seth's fiancee, leaves him because she knows he still loves Erin.  That *very* day, he has sex with Erin and starts their relationship back up.

That is not the kind of hero I like.  And I wasn't emotionally involved with either of the characters.  I can just imagine how I would feel if I were invested in their story.

Wolf Claim
Wolf Claim (Wolves of Willow Bend) (Volume 3) - Heather Long

Eh.  The whole pack hierarchy thing was too rigid and the heroine was too "sweet" (because she's a healer).

A Lot Like Love
A Lot like Love - Julie James

This was just ok.  I've heard a lot of positive talk about this author and decided to pick this up since it was on sale for $.99.  I wasn't all that enamored of the hero and I didn't really relate to the heroine.  I don't relate to perfect people, I guess, and their misreading/misunderstanding of each other when they parted ways was pretty contrived and seemed out of character.  The hero not answering the phone multiple time was an immature asshole thing to do, too.  Maybe this just wasn't a good Julie James book to start with, but I read the preview in this book for her next book and it didn't seem like my cup of tea, either.
