This was a really weird story set in the near future. I liked it, but it was really weird. The protagonist, Meena, is a woman on the run and quite disturbed. It's told in the first person with time jumps between Meena and another woman who predates her, Miriama. The narrative seems confusing at firs...

I need time to process this one. There were definitely goosebump moments, but I'm not so sure about this one. I could be convinced either way whether or not this one is good. I could also defend either way whether this one is worth reading or not. I'm torn...Review to come eventually.

I received a free kindle copy of The Girl in the Road by Monica Byrne, published by Crown Publishing from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. I gave this intriguing, brilliantly written unusual novel which takes place in the future five stars. It was a page turner for me. There are blends of ...

Meena is fleeing west after an apparent assassination attempt back in her Indian home, whereas Mariama is heading east from Mauritania, after witnes...

Let's just begin by ripping a description right off of Monica Byrne's website:In a world where global power has shifted east and revolution is brewing, two women embark on vastly different journeys -- each harrowing and...

When I was choosing my next book, I pulled this up on Goodreads and saw a 3.75 average rating and so many people raving in their 5-star reviews. I thought to myself, well this must be a good book! It finally came in the mail and I dove right in. I wanted to love it, I really did. But, alas, I did no...

The Girl in the Road, the debut novel by Monica Byrne, is a futuristic mythical story of the journeys of two women and a bridge across the Arabian Sea, reaching from India to Ethiopia. It seems as if the book sets out to make a philosophical point, but it tries too hard and gets lost in the process....
