This was, for me, a wildly uneven collection of short stories. I truly enjoyed a little over half of the 15 stories, with several 5 stars among them. The remaining ones didn’t connect for me at all. Pop Art was probably the best, one of those stories that will stick with you long after finishing it....
Once again I read this for the Halloween bingo and also since this is on my Horror 2016 list (one of the top 20 must read horror books). I honestly never heard of "20th Century Ghosts" before, and though I did love some of the stories, some of them fell flat with me. Heck, I think I would have proba...
Really wanted to like this more than I did. I have already read two of his other novels (Horns, NOS4A2), so I was really excited to read this collection. I thought with his short stories, will be amazing without the pressure of having to sustain the excitement throughout an entire novel.Sadly, I was...
I absolutely adore short stories, especially horror short stories, so I had high hopes for this collection, especially since, as Stephen King's son, Joe Hill comes from great stock, and the introduction to the book was absolutely glowing. I was disappointed. The stories were good from a technica...
I first heard of Joe Hill after winning a bundle of used hardcovers on Ebay. Among the books in the lot were several King, some limited edition Laymon, a Straub or two, and two first editions by an author of which I had never heard. Heart Shaped Box and 20th Century Ghosts were in fantastic conditi...

A very solid collection of shorts from Mr. Hill. A few of my favorites in this collection were not, in fact, horror at all. Ghostly movie theaters, cardboard labyrinths, creepy masks, classic movie sets, last breaths and red bolt superhero blankies. I wish a few of these were longer, but then I gue...
Joe Hill's 20th Century Ghosts...how do I even dare to write a review that could do this superb collection justice? Maybe the secret is to not so much write a review that can ever match the brilliance of this book, but just write my simple and honest reaction to it. I said in a few post updates that...
Well, this was a very pleasant surprise.I’ve held off on reading Joe Hill for a while now, mainly because I see a lot of people raving about how good a writer he is - which, in my mind, has gradually and lamentably built up into a magnificent, colossal monument to the goddess of hype. Let’s call her...
There are some nice stories, it's a good collection overall. Not all of them are horror though and I was a little bitter about that at first, but it turned out okay.My top 3:#1 The Cape: Amazing short story with a great ending. Close to being my all-time favorite, though I think this title is still ...
