NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERIn a profound, funny, and beautifully rendered portrait of a beloved companion, bestselling novelist Dean Koontz remembers the golden retriever who changed his life. A retired service dog, Trixie was three when Dean and his wife, Gerda, welcomed her into their home. She was superbly trained, but her greatest gifts couldn’t be taught: her keen intelligence, her innate joy, and an uncanny knack for living in the moment. Whether chasing a tennis ball or protecting those she loved, Trixie gave all she had to everything she did, inspiring Dean and Gerda to trust their instincts and recapture a sense of wonder that will remain with them always. Trixie lived fewer than twelve years; in this wide world, she was a little thing. But in every way that mattered, she lived a big life.CBS Sunday Morning featured A Big Little Life in a rare interview with Dean Koontz that focuses on his philanthropic efforts with and affection for dogs. Oh, I loved this book! What a fun idea and a great book for anyone who loves their dog like a family member. My dog had some of the same mannerisms as Trixie including the "speaking," the eye-brow looks, and all of the lovable qualities. I lost my Halley-dog to a tumor on her stomach a little over t...
I like learning that famous authors are very much like everyday people. When I saw this book was by Dean Koontz, I was a little leery. But I actually enjoyed it. He's witty, very upfront about his life and loved his dog so much it made my heart ache. Although I'm growing tired of dog books, this one...
I liked the book, and I cried, because it is sad. However, I always hate people saying that dogs have feelings because this is so obvious to me that talking about it seems unnecessary and odd. I agree with Koontz that dogs have feeling and spirituality equal to that of people, but I don't agree that...
