My annual reading of A Christmas Carol. I always enjoy watching Scrooge change his ways. This time I picked up some new things that Scrooge says and does. Didn't expect that after all these years of reading it. Worth reading. The Christmas season would not be complete without reading this.

by Charles Dickens What can anyone say about a Dickens Classic? This story has stood the test of time for good reason. Some of Dickens' stories can be overly wordy and full of too many characters and get confusing, but this one is straight forward and tells the story in a clear, linear fashion l...

I love this story, but hated the book. I have always loved the story of Scrooge. I enjoy the movie/play versions of the story--watching the various versions is one of the handful of things I enjoy about this time of year. Having finally read the book a few years ago, I was disappointed. I did n...

Dickens writes with sly humor, but there is no mistaking the gravity of his argument about the spirit of Christmas and those w...

I thought I'd like to re-read this one. So my spouse handed me a copy. It was a real copy. But then, she took that copy away and left me reading this "adapted" copy. That is, someone (Malvina G. Vogel) decided they could do a better job than Dickens writing the English language, or something. In all...

I watched and read many adaptations of this short novel but never read the original. The story was OK but the language used by Dickens is just as inaccessible as it was ten years ago.

A classic Christmas story, beautifully narrated by the wonderful Tim Curry.

Although this is THE christmas classic, I just now got around to read it for the first time and I absolutely love it! Scrooge and his epic “Bah, humbug!” is an amazing character, way better than his depiction in any movie adaptation I have seen (whereas my favourite one is the TV adaption from 1984)...
