What a book to start off the new year with. Intense, dense, just pulled you in and kept you enthralled. Had to really concentrate as there was lots of story but riveting.

It's sort of astounding that this is a first novel. I mean, there are times (since it is so damn long) that you can tell, especially in the plot (less is more, and there is definitely too much, and too much unbeliveable, plot). But on the whole this is an incredible book. It is downright, laugh-o...

Enjoyable. Lots of humor sprinkled throughout. Still storyline sleepy enough that I can fall asleep while reading it.Having a mixed reaction... there are laugh-out-loud funny lines, or lines I want to quote later, every few pages, and yet it puts me to sleep. I find the Jasper narrated bits less to...

I have to admit I didn't finish this. It's over 700 pages long and I got about halfway. So that pretty much invalidates this review. Except that I don't often leave a book uncompleted. There has to be a reason. In this case it was the fact that I simply didn't care about any of the characters. What i...

I sort of have a love/like thing going on with this novel, it probably deserves another half star, but since we can't give half starts, c'est la vie. The first 300 to 400 pages I loved, then I started to get bored and I found myself struggling to wade through the last 300+ pages. The writing is fabu...

I really, really enjoyed this books. I kind of wanted to hurt the son, Japser, a lot of the times though because he acts like quite a fool. But the father is insane and they have crazy conversations that amuse me to no end and they build a maze to get to their house. There were a lot of twists in th...

Once in a while I will read a book that will leave me utterly astounded. After I finish such a book I feel moved in a way I cannot explain. I become almost zealous in my advertising of said book, telling relatives, friends, colleagues etc. I want to leap on strangers on trains who are reading it and...
