Series: The Memoirs of Lady Trent #1 I've been meaning to read this for quite a while, so when I saw it in my library's overdrive offerings, I figured it would make a good choice for my next audiobook (I seem to find it so much easier to get through audiobooks these days). Now I can finally return...

As part of my Once Upon A Time springtime festival, I decided to finish the Lady Trent series. This has been a favorite series of mine, although I fell behind after the second book. The fifth and final book in the series, Within the Sanctuary of Wings, will be released on April 25, which gives me th...

More like 3 1/2 stars, but I'll round it up coz it was really cute. It took me a while to read this, because I went to America for a week and was too busy to read the whole week! It's also written in a kind of memoir style, which I've always had trouble immersing myself in. But all in all I really l...

I kind of loved this. I didn't really expect to. I started it on a road trip where I expected my attention to be divided. Nope. This is the first in a series of fictional memoirs about a scientist who's field work has earned her the reputation of leading scholar in her field in spite of her gender...

Hmm...what to say about this book? I liked the memoir style. I liked the narrative within a narrative structure. It was entertaining enough. Yet I feel let down. First - and this is a well documented gripe - there aren't nearly enough dragons and it wasn't really a natural history either. Most of wh...

Probably closer to 3.5 than 4 but better than most 3 star books. An alternative history in a land that closely resembles Britain (and why bother create a new pseudo-britain when you already have a perfectly good for purpose one there?) in the Victorian era. Lady Trent writes an autobiography of her...

I'm sorry I haven't been around. It's been a real tough month here. I'll be posting a few reviews I made on Goodreads a while ago within the next couple days. I'm sorry. I don't know what it is about this book. I was hooked the first half, but around 60% it lost my interest and I can't put my fin...

May I start by saying what a lovely object this book is? Brown type, a quaint synopsis at the start of each chapter, and gorgeous illustrations throughout (I wish there were more!) all make this a beautiful book to interact with. I also read the hardcover which had ruffle-cut pages and was a pleasin...

One of my favourite books off all times. Loved the realistic view of the natural history of dragons, you could almost imagine that someone had "discovered" a secret history of these creatures.

STORY: 1 starILLUSTRATIONS: 5 starsOVERALL: 3 starsDoes SKIMMING consider as READ? I skimmed because I just don't bother with the story. AT ALL. The title, the blurb, they are misleading. I didn't get dragons as I was promised and I am utterly disappointed. Anyway, I did enjoy the illustrations of t...
