The history of Afghanistan is a bloody affair. A country coveted and fought over by powerful neighbours, ultimately disintegrating into tribal rivalry and butchery. absolutely amazing read, but incredibly difficult. i don't think i've been so happy for a character to die since i first saw a film of Oliver Twist as a kid (man, my dad was so pissed at me for being happy that the villain dies).

Engaging, riveting, and heart wrenching ... I loved every moment of it. The characters, the plot, the...
