by Sarah Gruen This was an amazing story. I love realistic stories about the circus or carnivals and I learned from the author's note at the end that this was very well researched in a historian sense. It rang mostly true and some of the incidents were taken from events that really happened some...

I've been on a bit of a "finally getting around to reading it!" streak lately. So, I finally got around to reading Water for Elephants. I thought it was perfectly fine. It didn't move me one way or another. But maybe now I'll finally get around to watching the movie, as well.

Simon Watson, a librarian, is the stable one in his family, or so it seems. His sister, Enola, is a tarot card reader who travels with carnivals, as did their mother. Simon has always taken care of Enola, from working after school as a teenager to feed and clothe them both, to driving through the ni...

I loved this! Got it free as a world book night gift from my mother-in-law to be. Was completely ingrossing and the ending made me smile lots. Well worth a read.Think my favourite part were with 90year old Jacob. Really resonanted with the people I've worked with in care homes and the hospitals.

I don't see why it's so popular with a lot of readers.because of that good-looking-vampire-guy in the movie maybe, ladies? The plot couldn't be written more cliché.
