Eldorado was part of the Euregio Literatuur Prijs some years ago. This is a project that encourages people to read six selected titles, two each from Dutch/Flemish, French and German authors. I have conflict feelings regarding this novel, Some parts i really enjoyed mainly first half of story. In the second half, i was quite annoyed with the repeatedly sex scenes, sex reference ...etc. It was really pointless; it added nothing to the story. i wanted this book to explain and illustrate th...

Fantastic book. Made me think so much about my own existentialist problems. Do I succumb to consumerism or not? I share some judgements with Antoine.

This book is her most acclaimed with the awards it won, but I enjoyed "The Stranger Next Door" quite a ...

I hadn't known that the two characters alternated their chapters in narration (the edition I read didn't say so i...

I have to admit that I've avoided Amélie Nothomb until now because of her face: printed on every book cover, it didn't inspire me to trust her writing. My mind works in strange ways sometimes. The curiosity got the better of me though, so now I must admit that I may have been wrong... I've immediatel...

This was a highly entertaining read. Nothomb's style of writing is smooth and savvy. It sucks you in and carries you through the story in a heartbeat. The book is funny yet serious, outlandish yet realistic.
